Kriswendorf
Didnt meet all the qualifications but here goes. I tried a simple budget build but went out the window when trying to find a cheap light. I tried the Hipargero A029 aquarium LED light and while it was nice it lacked the dimmable feature and i just didnt like the color output. I could have went the same route as my im10 and went with a Ai prime, I wanted to try something different. kimberbee
Is this tank meant to be part of the contest that just started? Everyone needs to start with an empty/dry tank, but this looks like it's been running for a bit. 😕 1 Quote Link to comment
Kriswendorf
Just set it up today and no not in the contest just want to be part of the process. I built the rock structure, live sand and water added yest. Corals and fish added today. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kriswendorf
This was the tank two days ago. So i really cant say it was ever dry. 😂🤣 Quote Link to comment
Llobrao
Nice build! Same here, not part of the challenge but keeping a tank this small thriving is a challenge on its own! Lmao fresh water gets a bit boring in 2-3 days I went from planted to reef 😂 how’s the pump working for you ? I want to add a tad more flow to the tank and been considering that hydor pump, can we see a better pic ? I don’t want something too big but don’t want something that barely moves water neither. I had an old MP10 when I started for the first week but was already on eBay with bids and didn’t want to cancel it it was a bit old already anyways but surprisingly it wasn’t too big In the tank and at level 1 pulse it was not too much flow neither Quote Link to comment
Kriswendorf
Did some coral swapping. Pulled some corals out to make room for hammer coral dumping grounds. Broke apart a big colony and had to put it somewhere. It will change again soon when i order more corals. 2 Quote Link to comment

Threw in the little hydor set on 50% along with the mj 606 and the flow seems to be nice. I am on the fence on coral choice still. I really want to do a chalice, acan, and meteorite coral tank but will see. let me know if the pics help. Tried to post a video of the flow but i guess we cant upload videos. 1 Quote Link to comment
Llobrao
The MP10 seemed fine for me but then again my tank was empty just rocks and sand, didn’t really get a feel since corals give you a better feel when you see them react, I think I will pull the trigger on that hydor This weekend, keep them pictures coming I have a feeling this is gonna be an epic nano or pico I don’t know what a 5g would be call lol Quote Link to comment
Kriswendorf
Heres a pic from today. Most corals are open. The nuvo 10 is a mess and dont have time to organize it. I am getting more coral tomorrow and should be here on tues. maybe need to just hang everything on the glass until i figure out what i have and where it all goes. I can tell you that all these hammers are going bye bye in the 5 gallon. 2 Quote Link to comment
Kriswendorf
Finally had some time to put the new lights on this weekend. I will try them out for a bit. I havent really found a light that i like over my ai or radions. Going to give the currents a fair run. Just want to try different things. The diatoms are starting to form on rocks and sand. Seems like a good start. 2 Quote Link to comment
Llobrao
People are scare of diatoms, specially on new tanks, I saw diatoms and got so excited!!! Life! Quote Link to comment
Llobrao
I was going to give current orbits a try as well since they fit perfectly in these but was thrilled and wanted to buy some 2nd ones cheap didn’t find them. I’m really considering an AI or xr15 they are popping up a lot on eBay since Gen 5 are out now Quote Link to comment
Kriswendorf
I have a hydra 64 in white sitting here but i think it might be overkill. It would look too bulky. Going to give these current lights a honest run and see what happens. Quote Link to comment
Kriswendorf
Here is some new pics. Same old same old. Still not thrilled with the current lighting. It just doesn’t have the crisp or color that i can get with the ai. The hydra was overkill. Any suggestions??? The problem is i only have about 8” of clearance under the tv. 1 Quote Link to comment

I have it set for 100% blue 20% white 30% red and green. This gave me 150 par half way down and comparable color to my ai prime on the other tank. Quote Link to comment
