Hello fellow reefers guess its about time i started a little journal of my little pico tank. quick history, been reefing for about 5 years with a 45 gallon then took a 3 year break from the hobby. some coworkers got into the hobby and found out i used to own a reef tank. they were able to convince me to get back in. so with limited space in my apartment and wanting something simple yet challenging i always wanted to take a crack at a nano/pico tank. after some research i found the fluval evo line. i wanted the 13.5 but didnt have a place that could support the weight so i settled with the evo 5. so here we go Equitment Tank: Fluval evo 5 gallon 20.5 x 11.6 x 7.5" Return pump: NEWA MN606 - 159gph Lighting: stock 11k LED with 12inch ebay blue led strip Filtration: intank media basket with Top. floss Middle. carbon. This is my new Fluval Evo 5 tank. I'm a first time saltwater tanker as I've only had freshwater in the past. I want to get advice from experienced reefers and others who have used this tank before. I have 3 inhabitants in my tank. My first question is water flow. Is my circulation pump in a good spot? Also please feel free to give feedback/advice on my setup as I like to learn and gain more experience. Thanks in advance community!

The cyphastrea and chalice adventure begins. One month old. 3 pounds of Carib sea base rock seeded with Aquamarine Canada copepods. One purple frilly gorgonian. One Bizarro cyphastrea frag. Stock light. All is well. I may have a goby pistol pair in a week or so from Raging Reef Montreal.

Hi there I stubled upon this challange and thought it was the PERFECT excuse for an office tank. I am playing with dryscape right now. Tank is not at my office yet. I want to get all the pieces together first then take it in. Is seeding from existing tanks ok? So here is my entry into the challenge Tank Fluval Evo V Pump Cobalt 606 Heater ? Lights Stock + 2 blue led strips Fliter area Intank media basket with floss and cpe in the very bottom a bit of a block of marine pure ATO Will be some sort of diy with the stock pump from the tank. Stock will be flowery I hope (Guys I am not very creative) Rock flowers a plenty Zoas I may do a small torch or other euphilla to act as the "tree" in my flower garden. Maybe a little piece of cyphastrea once I figure out how the light really is.

Didnt meet all the qualifications but here goes. I tried a simple budget build but went out the window when trying to find a cheap light. I tried the Hipargero A029 aquarium LED light and while it was nice it lacked the dimmable feature and i just didnt like the color output. I could have went the same route as my im10 and went with a Ai prime, I wanted to try something different. Greetings all! New to the forum and getting back into the saltwater world after a 4-5 year hiatus. My last tank was a 40 gallon acrylic with a 20 gallon sump. Due to a work schedule, that tank was eventually broken down and is awaiting it's resurrection. After moving, i've decided the time is right to ease back into the hobby although i realize a small tank like a 5 g is no "easy" task, its also not a major financial investment at the moment. I've taken full advantage of my amazon prime trial and purchased a Fluval Evo 5 gallon marine aquarium kit, some natures ocean bio (that i may or may not use). Here's the catch. While it is January, i live a mile away from the Atlantic ocean here on Cape Cod. I have been reading into and thinking about filling my 5 gallon with ocean water from the nearby clear beach as well as possibly using some of the substrate. Any thoughts on this? Super excited and my whole kit should arrive in the next two days, will post pics and updates every step! 🙂

I’m running a pico (soon-to-be) reef tank using a Fluval spec that I had gotten brand new for $20. What I currently have in there are some hermit crabs and as far as coral, I’ve got a GSP frag in there. The GSP has been doing fine, but my only concern is with the light as the spec v’s light is 7000k and the Evo V’s light is an 11000k. I want to make sure the GSP and any future corals will get enough out of the lights. i was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could get an Evo light to replace the current spec one that I have. I saw a listing on amazon, but sadly it’s unavailable.

Hello to all! I have a 13.5 fluval tank that replaced my 5 gallon, however I now work from home and I brought the 5 gallon back out to put on my desk! I was wondering if anyone has found any better pumps that can replace the one the tank came with. It works and all, it just does not have enough flow for me. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
