No idea what this coral is nor did the LFS. Any ideas? It’s a mushroom and about silver dollar in diameter with burgundy coloring.

That looks more sponge than mushroom. Does it ever lay flat? Or is it rigid?

My first thought as well.  OP, can you see a mouth in the center?

+1 looks like a plating sponge to me. I have a blue and a red one...they are neato!

Oh nice, which tank? I’d love to check them out.

I know, right? I kinda want one now!!  @Quip is lucky if that’s what it is!!

I'd love one but I have never ever seen one in our stores.

It would be a cool addition.

In my macro tank...the red one completely bleached out and half died out of no where but is recovering and turning a nice red again. It seems way more picky than the blue.

Older photo but bright blue to the right. It really stands out!

The red one is still recovering and hidden under it. I have to move this tank tomorrow so hopefully I don't kill them in the process.

It doesn’t lay flat and it isn’t rigid. Has some give to it when touched. I can see a mouth on it either.

I’d send you some if I could.

Thank you. It would be great if we could.

I really don't understand why the restrictions between the 2 countries.

I still think it’s a photosynthetic sponge.

Are you coming to MACNA in Phoenix next year? If so, I'll happily give you a frag. I've got a purple plating sponge that grows like crazy, and would much rather give frags of it than throw it out.
