Elizabeth94
Very very nice! What a nice collection of equipment. Any stocking plans? How was your experience with Waterbox? Any quality concerns with the tank and stand so far? Im in the planning stage for their Marine 70.3, seems like a great system for the price. 1 Quote Link to comment

My experience went well. No issues with either tank or stand. I received it about a month after ordering. It’s a nice tank and stand. I already have the following fish that will go in it when it’s done cycling. longnose Hawkfish, 4 line wrasse, orchid dottyback, Helfrichi Firefish, Black Storm Clownfish I am going to get a Bartlett anthias and black onix chromis once the other fish are in the tank. These 2 will stay in qt for a month or so. After that I really want a Red Sea regal angelfish. My tank is going to be mostly sps so I shouldn’t have too much trouble with the angel nipping at anything. I’ll have to get rid of the acans I have already. After that’s out of qt I think I am going to get a purple tang. That might be the last fish depending on how my nutrients do. 1 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Well I'm definitely following this build. I adore angelfish but have never had a tank large enough to accommodate one, very jealous! 1 Quote Link to comment

My tank is still not big enough for most angels though. Most of the non dwarfs need a 6’ tank at least. Quote Link to comment

I am going to see how the par numbers are this weekend. Someday down the road I might add some T5s but I think the radions will do well. Quote Link to comment

Thrassian Atoll
I have baby snails galore right now from the established rock I put in. 3 Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
Here’s my Par values with the 4 Radion XR15 G4Pros. These have diffusers too. The par values as shown are at 70% intensity on the AB+ color scheme and what I will be going with. At 100% intensity par at the top of the rocks was 550. 3 Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
My Trident is here! BRS calling list hooked me up. I also got a small cabinet to put beside my tank. It would of been impossibly fitting all of this under the tank. Doesn’t look too out of place. I got my dos hooked up today and will setup the trident tomorrow. 3 3 Quote Link to comment

This might be the only second Trident I saw on NR. (Third, if we count Scorched's beta test run) Looks forward to hear your thoughts on it. It's a bit out of budget right now, but stable alkalinity is my biggest issue the last 18-24 months. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Appreciate it! I got on the calling list 3 hours after they announced it and just got the call Friday, I believe 2 months later? Definitely hard to get. I will definitely update how it does. I shouldn’t be dosing much since the tank is empty for now but we shall see how well it automates the doses down the road. I’ll compare the trident to the manual test kits I have probably this weekend. I think it takes a while to calibrate and start getting readings. 1 Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Everything looks fantastic. I can see how something like this would be nice to have for people who have sps dominate tanks or anyone who needs help seeing their system sable. I think I am going to try out a calcium reactor once water changes aren't enough. Of course this is way down the line. My Waterbox is still backordered 😞 Did your lid come in? I must have come across the same vendor you used. It looked quite similar to what you showed above. 1 Quote Link to comment

Hopefully it will be better this time with the bigger tank and more controlled stability. Its funny you ask about the lid. I just talked to the guy from Top lids yesterday. Unfortunately, he’s having major issues with his location. Apparently wherever the equipment was to cut these, the guy got evicted from the building or something. He’s not sure if he’s going to be able to find another place to have them cut or the equipment moved. I don’t know, but he’s going to keep me updated. I am super disappointed. It’s been almost 3 months since I ordered and it’s going to be another 3 months probably if I have to order one through Clearview. I was expecting to have a lid on the tank already. Here’s the message. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thrassian Atoll
So now the dilemma is going to be, do I transfer the fish to my tank from the QT before I get a lid? I really don’t want any to jump out but I don’t want to wait possibly months before I get a lid. This sucks. Quote Link to comment
Elizabeth94
Could you come up with a DIY lid for now? 1 Quote Link to comment

Probably going to be janky around my light mounts and overflow box but it should hold me over. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/diy-aquarium-screen-top-kits-1-4-netting.html?sku=220140&gclid=CjwKCAjwyqTqBRAyEiwA8K_4OwFoqCcXag45AiZ2cq96vx1iDHNNzb9JhS4LL_-HpqTRassJ5tHwOhoCFbEQAvD_BwE Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
I got the DIY lid from BRS and that thing is junk, at least with an overflow box to go around. Blowing on it makes it bend. I tried for a couple hours today to get the netting on and no matter what, it bends. Tight, loose doesn’t matter. It’s going in the garbage. Good news though, TopLids should be making my top this month. Fingers crossed on that. I’ll believe it when I see it though. My fish will stay in the QT until then. I bought some snails through LiveAquaria and they might be the smallest I have ever seen. I think they deliberately gave me the smallest ones. Haha. My wife is going to pick up some more hopefully tomorrow from a LFS in the city. Oh and the tank is cycled. Took 2 weeks. The transfer/QT took 55 days. Crazy how they were so different. I also setup the Trident today. I’ll see tomorrow how the initial tests look like. 1 Quote Link to comment
Thrassian Atoll
Trident has been doing great. The numbers are pretty spot on with my other test kits. Alk with Hanna says 8.1, Calcium with Red Sea says 380. I am going to get my numbers at 8/420 and set up up the dos/trident auto dosing and see if how close it keeps it to those numbers. 2 Quote Link to comment
