I talked to the crazy lady at the LFS again. She feeds 10+ times a day (really small quantities) mysis, cyclopese, and brine. She sits there all day, so why not? She has adults from her adults now, so they are not impossible to raise. The nitrate/nitrites must be 0, she claims. The tank has little flow; just what's provided by the Eclipse filter. The lights are on 6-8 hrs a day. There are no anemonies in the tank. It can be done, it's just a matter of doing it.

This idea is as feesable as breeding mandrins... the larva are gonna be to small to even see! how do you expect to get consumer based products that will filter the water and not kill the shrimp.

Um no offence dude, but they are NOT too small to see. 2. You do not need to filter the water. While I do not know how possible it is to rear them to adults, I know its been done. When you said they are too small to see you obviously did not see my other post with pictures of the larva my female released yesterday.

I stumbled upon a thread on RC a while back about an individual that raised a bunch of sexy shrimp.

Here it is! LisaP's thread: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=569458

Some quotes from her thread:

They are now living in a small tank containing rotifers, some other small unknown organism (probably ciliates) and a mixture of algae (B. plicatilis)

Later on, someone suggests that from day 1, to start feeding the baby sexies with BBS. I'm interested in seeing how your experiment turns out HC! :)

I'd love to delve into something like this in the future, but don't think I'd have the energy for something this intensive right now. lol

There is a knowledgable guy at the reefcentral forums - purplehase, you can ask him by Personal Message, really helpful, but check the mentioned thread first, to get the whole picture.

I thought about sexy shrimps too, but have no time or means for that.
