lkoechle
Sup, guys? I'm back. I will update my other tanks soon. In a funny twist, I was ordering more CUC for my 100 Days contest tank, and I ordered some Thin Stripe Hermits. On the page they were described as medium. and I'm thinking "If blues are small, then medium will be fine." I ordered three. They come in, and these guys are golf ball sized or larger. So, yeah, def not puttinng them in my unglued aquascape 14 gallon. xD I sold two of them that day and kept a 3rd because I wanted to do this contest. I gave the hermit to my kids who promptly named him the super cool name "Zipadee-Quickadee" (note to self, do not let a toddler and preschooler name anything). He is living in a bucket in the laundry room until tomorrow. W00t w00t! My kids' nicknames are Pookie (my 5 year old) and BabyMunch (3 year old). Hence the thread title. lol This is their tank. I'm going to let them help with water changes, top offs, feeding etc. They will be allowed to choose their own corals from my 14 gallon to put in with "Zipadee-Quickadee". I'm also being very daring with tank placement in having it in a cubby that is eye level for the 3 year old. I picked up the equipment from Petco yesterday. Equipment 2.5g Janky Tank 50 watt Aqueon heater Aqueon HOB filter Exoterra Day & Night LED fixture (from my gecko tank package, but its a vivarium so it has a light upgrade) Reef-Cleaners Florida Reef Rock from ages ago Black sand from my shrimp jar I never actually put shrimp in Livestock 1x Thin Line Hermit Majano anemone zoas pulsing xenia ricordea yuma So we'll see if the light is enough. I'm not sure. Either way, no big deal since the corals in there need to be fragged anyways. Until my African Cichlid tank is set up, I can also throw on my refugium grow light as well. Photos tomorrow! 9 Quote Link to comment

vlangel
Pookie and Babymunch, ha ha! We had Eggs McNathan and Matty McNoodle! Ours grew up more or less unscathed even though their parents gave them such dorky nicknames. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

lkoechle
Got my drink, got my pocky. Time to update. So this morning we took Zipadee-Quickadee out of laundry room confinement to the "fish room" (which is a misnomer, because actually my porch has the most fish in the patio pond followed by the two tanks in the living room. but the largest single tank is in there hence "fish room") And I started putting on the background for the tank that I painted last night. Everyone wanted to help of course. Tanks in my house is a team sport. There's no "i" in reef tanks! There is a special surprise touch that's still curing. It will be added this evening. So don't spoil the surprise @kimberbee! Then Pookie aquascaped. and gave Zipadee some light. Then @Christopher Marks FINALLY woke up and posted the stuff about snacks right as I was loading up to go to my LFS. So I sprang back into the house, threw in my Pocky, took a photo, and went to the LFS. We let Pookie choose his own coral from the softie frags (Babymunch had a terrible case of being 3 today) He chose an Eagle Eye/Radioactive Dragon combo frag for $15. Everything else is coming from my 14g. We got home and Pookie started filling her up! Putting the star of the show in We acclimated coral Zipadee-Quickadee got in on re-enacting the mural Busy day. Now to update the other threads and add this tank to my sig! 8 Quote Link to comment
