Magnet Question

The ato I have has suction cups where the sensor go int my sump and they slip or pop sometimes so I want to glue a magnet to it.  I know aqua med makes clips design for aquariums but they are $10 for one clip on amazon so I thought gluing a magnet on the suction cup clip would be a cheaper alternative.  Would something like this be okay?  I just want to make sure nothing would leach.  I know a told of other equipment use magnets so Im hoping this will be a cheap solution.

They need to be coated with a reef safe material.  I used these plastic coated magnets: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/products.asp?cat=164

I used these plastic "coated" magnets. The plastic is not actually coated. It is a hollow cavity with a plastic top on it. 2 out of the 3 in my tank actually started to rust and the outside coating is nickel and copper :scarry: The one that did not rust was coated in superglue so I suspect that is the reason it did not rust like the others.

I've moved on to these bad boys. Expensive, but super strong and I like them a lot. Coated all the way around in rubber.

I’ve thrown two of those oceanwonders frag racks away now from rusty magnets, good product otherwise lasted about a year
