Brian1313
The ato I have has suction cups where the sensor go int my sump and they slip or pop sometimes so I want to glue a magnet to it. I know aqua med makes clips design for aquariums but they are $10 for one clip on amazon so I thought gluing a magnet on the suction cup clip would be a cheaper alternative. Would something like this be okay? I just want to make sure nothing would leach. I know a told of other equipment use magnets so Im hoping this will be a cheap solution. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HF3BJPY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3US98LJH5LOGM&psc=1 Quote Link to comment
Clown79
You need a particular magnet that is reef safe. Not all magnets are, some rust. @seabass fo you know which are safe? Quote Link to comment
seabass
They need to be coated with a reef safe material. I used these plastic coated magnets: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/products.asp?cat=164 1 Quote Link to comment

I used these plastic coated magnets: https://www.kjmagnetics.com/products.asp?cat=164 I used these plastic "coated" magnets. The plastic is not actually coated. It is a hollow cavity with a plastic top on it. 2 out of the 3 in my tank actually started to rust and the outside coating is nickel and copper The one that did not rust was coated in superglue so I suspect that is the reason it did not rust like the others. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/oceans-wonders-n52-v2-mag-rack-replacement-magnets.html I've moved on to these bad boys. Expensive, but super strong and I like them a lot. Coated all the way around in rubber. 1 Quote Link to comment
Tom@HaslettMI
Also note that if your ATO uses standard float switches a magnetic holder could cause the float switch to not function properly. Tom Quote Link to comment

jservedio
You can get rubber coated magnets extremely cheap on Amazon. You can also get neodymium or ceramic discs depending on what you are holding and spray paint them with enamel paint and let it cure. Or plasti dip them. Quote Link to comment
