LesPaulGtr
Hi All, I'm 2 weeks into an initial cycle on a brand new tank. I only have real reef rock, live sand and water in the tank and I started noticing this translucent stringy stuff all over the rocks pretty early on. Any ideas on what it is and if it needs to be removed? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
patback
Possible sponge or tunicate but it also looks like it may be a dead translucent macro like chaeto. Is it attached to the rock, or able to be picked up? Quote Link to comment
LesPaulGtr
Thanks @patback. They were loosely attached to the rocks, but I was able to free them by using tweezers. Quite a few got loose and swimming around but eventually got caught in the filter floss. When I took them out and put on a paper towel they actually looked brown, so not sure what they were. I still have a little more clean up to do, but for the most part it seems resolved. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
