Jamisondaniel33
Was wondering how you guys take photos of your coral? Is there a certain app you use or do you buy special lenses? Need some help getting better shots. Quote Link to comment
xthunt
I got the Aquariclip. It really clears up the blue tint when taking pics with just the blue lights on, but does sort of exaggerate the colors. Dont need anything special if taking pics with more white light than blue. The stock light on my Evo V leans more white, and I prefer to take pictures with the white lights on (no filter) than try to take pictures with blue light, looks more natural to me. WV Reefer
I use my iPhone 7 straight up, no filters or adjusting. 1 Quote Link to comment
Jamisondaniel33
even with blue lights you don't get that ugly look? Quote Link to comment
HarryPotter
I take photos and then adjust warmth to take out the blue 1 Quote Link to comment
ajkochev
Following along and hoping others will chime in. I read the stickies in the photography section but I think I just don't have good enough cameras. Quote Link to comment
DSFIRSTSLTWATER
i use my google pixel xl which has a great camera but its really hard to get nice pics. I'm not a good photographer lol. I'll be reading these comments for a while. Quote Link to comment

dawz2
The type of lighting can be a huge factor! I can get gorgeous pics with my iPhone 7 (unfiltered/edited) under my Kessil A80, but utter crap under my AI Prime HD (unless I manually adjust the blues out). iPhone 7 photo under AI Prime HD vs iPhone 7 photo under Kessil A80 2 Quote Link to comment
A Little Blue
There is AquariumCam app for few $ or use simple orange gel filter to neutralize blues. I am not into it but some on here take some amazing photos. Perhaps they can chime in. Quote Link to comment
VictoryBell
I take pictures as is with my camera or iphone and then use adobe lightroom to remove a lot of the blue. (Though, a lot of times I'm lazy and just post as is if it looks reasonably OK.) Quote Link to comment
NanoTrav
I've been using AZ camera app with my pixel xl. It's kinda buggy. It crashes when using anything on auto. But 10k white balance and ISO at 50 and it's pretty close to actual colors. Quote Link to comment

This guy is extra salty
Get the aquarium cam app best $3 I’ve spent in the hobby 1 Quote Link to comment
A Little Blue
Yeah, it’s pretty easy. Got some frags from my new friend who treated me with some freebies to test my tank’s readiness for some easier SPS. These are about an hour after glue-down. Pics are iPhone with and without use of AquariumCam. 1 Quote Link to comment

It looks like perhaps you have zoomed in too far with your camera, the focus is no longer sharp. What kind of camera are you working with? Quote Link to comment

Christopher Marks
@Jamisondaniel33 you should look into macro extension tubes to use with your current Nikon lenses: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=nikon+macro+extension+tube. They sandwich between your camera body and lens and essentially they change the minimum focus distance on your lens so it can focus on things much closer, akin to a macro lens. It's not a perfect solution, but they are a small investment and could be fun to experiment with. 1 Quote Link to comment
