Oneslowsaleen Posted October 14, 2015 Author Share Posted October 14, 2015 Ok so my tank has gone through some exciting changes , and I lost a coral . Got a few items from LFS, I also ordered from liveaquira.com , and cherry corals. So from LIveaquira I got a lemon tree , fire ice zoas, a Ducan, pistol shrimp , lettuce nudibranch ,and my file fish (Hudson is his name ). - the lemon tree didn't make do to shipment delay rest arrived in good health . Got a story about my Ducan though , tell it in the end. -few days later I went to LFS store for some RO water and few maintenance items. I ended up adding a few snails and hermits , I saw a dying sun coral so I asked about it and they gave it to me , and I got a watchmen goby for the pistol shrimp. The two fish are in a QT tank. Also got some pods for my fuge. - cherrycorals- I was super excited about this one I ordered a fat head Dendro , and some cool zoa frags - surfs blood, Rastas, punk rock girls, and cc red Suns . He also thru a zoa frag in I do not know what it is yet , it has not opened. Today I found out I can use a Dremel tool on my own , so I cut the Intank fuge basket to fit in chamber one, I will show pictures tomorrow Now same may say I took on too much at once, but I'm home most of the time I'm always, and I don't got much to do so I'm always researching, maintaining or doing something with the tank. So for my Ducan story yesterday I noticed it wasn't open and there was a brown hair like substance coming out of so I looked into last night , I woke up the smorning and it looked dead so I was going move him so I place him in lower part of my tank (non -permeant ) , I figured I would find a more permanent place later in the day when I was placing my new corals, when I come back it was gone and nowhere to be found like it grew legs and walk away. Tomorrow I'll get some good photos but for now I'll share my sun coral, Dendros and my zoa frags Seems we could start a Nemo's Biocube 29 club! We should lol Link to comment

Ph-8.2 Alkalinity-8 Nitrates-20 Nitrites-.2 Ammonia-0 Salifert Calcium- 440 Magnesium-1350 Phosphate-.03 After 6 gallon water change and vacuum of sand bed Nitrates drop to 10 Nitrites drop to 0 Phosphate drop to 0 But my alkalinity stayed at 8, what could cause that's? I know my nitrates , nitrites, phosphates are up cause of heavy feeding on a revival of sun coral , but I'm just going do bigger WC and at least once a week. Link to comment

I'm pretty sure my pistol shrimp killed my Pygmy file fish super upset about that. On the other I bought a BRS 6 stage RO/DI unit and a mini uv sterilizer . I saw the salt critters 666 sale so I bought a bunch of frags. Which I can't leave in the sand bed cause my pistol shrimp brings them into his cave, so I bought a frag rack. The tank looks real healthy , my flower pot is growing , I notice some coralline algae starting to grow as well. My suncoral I saved from LFS is being coming out after weeks of individually feeding each polyp/head.. I'm including a few pictures - stuff I ordered from BRS - my watchmen goby ( now paired with my pistol shrimp) - file fish ( before he died ) , flower pot coral -Dendros, sun coral, and softie -sun coral just starting to open - Dendro after feeding turned lights for picture Link to comment

I since added a firefish , few frags nostly zoas and a Acan , few mushrooms nothing too crazy. But after my frags arrive from my Black Friday shopping it will be a different story , got some killer deals. Link to comment

Plus I'm really starting to like NPS corals so I think the pump will be a good investment for all my nps corals . Looking good. I went super crazy with the black Friday deals ( and visited a LFS) so I am going to have a tank full of frags. On a sad note I lost my Coral Beauty last night.Sorry for the loss of your coral beauty , I lost my file fish few weeks ago I transferred him from my QT to my main tank and I guess it stressed him out , he developed a fungus . I tried treating him with anti biotic , and using a uv sterilizer but he didn't survive . As for Black Friday sales I went nuts online lol. Dr.macs live sale, rare reef, cherry corals, and one other that escapes my mind. I picked up zoas, mushrooms, 2 goniporas, few acans, and a green sun coral. Link to comment

Oneslowsaleen Posted January 8, 2016 Author Share Posted January 8, 2016 Hey everyone been awhile since I posted , so I figured I'd give a little update . My tank was doing really well up till I'd say 7-10 days ago corals weren't opening to their full potential, my zoas are opening 50% or so. The only things I have been testing was the salinity which remained at 1.025 , when tank wasn't doing as well I did more testing and noticed my alkanity was low around 6. So I did a water change, changed intank media, vacuumed the back and the gravel. Things started to turn around now tank is doing something corals are not opening to full potential , now my fire shrimp died. I'm going test parameters today, and to add insult to injury I been having problems with my dinosaur of a router ( took a shit) for some reason when this happened my lights went out cause my bluefish went offline? Oneslowsaleen Posted January 23, 2016 Author Share Posted January 23, 2016 Well I got my tank under control. My water quality is great and everything looks good, accept there is one small issue. I still have got no lights , I have a cheap led light until I figure mine out. At first I couldn't get the bluefish to connect after I finally got it to connect my retrofit nanobox lights will not turn on . I'm hoping Dave can solve my problem. Once I get the lights fixed I will post some photos of stuff I picked up over the holiday sales. Link to comment

Oneslowsaleen Posted February 5, 2016 Author Share Posted February 5, 2016 Yes I did , it was a fun ordeal and tank with no lights for two weeks wasn't great . A lot of my corals suffered , it upset me so I let some maintience slide, including regular feelings on my sun corals . I have got things in order now though. Newstead came by and help me with some routine maintenance and moving of some coral. Here are some pictures of what it looks like now I been bringing the lights back up gradually cause there was no light for awhile. I have them at 30% now I had them at 20% for about 5-6 days.
