callmesaul8889
After I moved our cat box away from an air conditioner return vent, I had our vents cleaned. Then we moved the cat box outside completely, switched litter, started using odor neutralizer and as far as I can tell, things are back to normal. I've switched to a new tank in the meantime (30g IM to an 80g deep blue - https://www.instagram.com/nullreef/).I'm not seeing any major funkiness with this new tank, so I think I've fully addressed the problem. One thing that a friend of mine recently introduced me to was microbubbling to increase the oxygen levels of the water. I THINK I was keeping our house too tightly sealed since we are in hot Florida. This was causing the pH of my tank to drop wayyyy down from the norm 8.3-8.5 to 7.8-8.1. I've started opening more windows and I have a microbubbler on a schedule overnight and 5 minutes every hour on the hour. Low O2 could have been a contributing problem in my previous tank, but I did not monitor pH or O2 so I have no way of knowing. Link to comment
