charnelhouse
Current FTS: Ever since introducing a Sinularia to our NC 6 there has been more surviving than thriving with most of the corals. I'm upgrading to this IM Nuvo Fusion 40 to try and give the corals that I have room to thrive again and to also allow a few more fish than the one Citron Goby we now have. Back on track again after a spate of disease that resulted in losing all of our fish. Equipment list: IM Nuvo Fusion 40 & Stand (Not especially happy with the stand, it's kind of flimsy) Tunze DOC 9004 Skimmer (See this thread for my problems and solution with the 9004) Cadlights PLS50e Tunze Osmolator 3155 ATO Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light, 24 to 36-Inch (Yeah, I know. charnelhouse
Leak tested and in its final resting place. Hoping to get it wet this coming weekend if my rock gets here in time. A couple of observations on this tank too: It might not be the best choice for a bare bottom application, the "levelling pad" that is installed at the factory looks kind of ugly, especially when it has some air bubbles as mine did. Even without them I don't think it's the greatest look for a BB tank. This has been noted elsewhere, but the return nozzles are pretty high on the waterline. I've read that it can create micro bubbles. Hoping I don't have this issue. The tank itself is very well constructed and looks great. I can't wait to get it up and running. Sadly, our Reef Cleaners rock will not be here until next Tuesday. Maybe I'll still fill this weekend with just live sand. And our magnificent barnacle cluster from John, which did arrive. Maybe a couple of the smaller rocks out of the NC 6 too to get things rolling. Link to comment
charnelhouse
Mixing water today. Picked up 40 lbs of sand, going to try and get it wet this weekend. InTank media basket arrived today too. Link to comment
charnelhouse
Picked up an American DJ power strip and a couple of LED puck lights for the cabinet today. GFI installed in wall. Sand is on hand and water is mixed. Probably going to fill tonight after doing some wiring work. Link to comment

charnelhouse
Filled the tank Friday night, had a busy day yesterday so didn't get to post. Still waiting for my Reef Cleaners rock order, so the scape is on hold until Tuesday. American DJ bar installed, wiring still needs some TLC. Added the barnacle cluster and a piece of live rock from the NC 6. Link to comment
charnelhouse
The view from my couch.... and the rock is on the truck for delivery today according to UPS Tracking. Thanks John! Link to comment

charnelhouse
Reef Cleaners rock came in. First attempt at a scape. There will be additional rock from the NC6, about 4 slightly-larger-than-a-softball size rocks that I will stack at the base of these. And the black sharpie outline is where the barnacle cluster will sit roughly (the coral stick will move)... thoughts? Link to comment
smeagol108
U will be surprised what that current light can do. It's better than what people give it credit for. My tank is shallow 9 inches, but it lps, softies and sps in my tank. Link to comment

My tank is shallow 9 inches, but it lps, softies and sps in my tank. I don't have anything under it yet, but it's GOT to be better than the 18w PC in the NC6... haha. It's about 17" to my sand bed, but from what I've read that should be fine for softies. And I may try some SPS up higher if I can keep water params under control. Specifically an Acro for our Citron Goby to live in. He likes our Sinularia, but I think an Acro would be mo betta! YOOOOO how did you mount the American DJ bar? Did you drill holes in the casing? Nice tank btw I used 2 industrial strength velcro tabs @ 2"x4" each. It's not going anywhere unless I want it off Link to comment

charnelhouse
Where did you buy the velcro? Home Depot? Ive been looking for a mounting solution for a while! Ace Hardware in my neighborhood had it. Here it is from Lowe's - http://www.lowes.com/pd_71115-388-90200_0__?productId=3043265 I also folded back the top mounting tab on the power strip so I could put it a little higher in the cabinet. charnelhouse
New FTS at #1. The fish and corals are in that are going in. I decided yesterday that I'm going to take a couple of rocks, one with Kenya Tree one with some zoas, to the LFS and trade for credit. The rocks are too big to go in the 40 and look decent. A few new fish are next order of business. Trying to decide between a Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse or Springeri Dottyback, if I can find either locally. Going to the LFS today to check. I've been trying to get the Tunze 9004 going for a few days, I turned it on friday afternoon, but I think my bioload is too light. It's only making bubbles about halfway up the neck. It's also generating a lot of microbubbles and making slurping noises. I've tried adjusting the level it's at and have an ATO operating. Giving up on it for now until I have more bioload. I turned it off this morning. Link to comment
charnelhouse
Put this guy on hold at the LFS yesterday. Going to give him a few days to adjust (they just brought him in the night before from LA) and see how he does. He ate some mysis in the store yesterday. Link to comment
charnelhouse
New FTS at #1. Read a bunch about Fairy & Flasher Wrasse yesterday and decided that since Naoko's females are not likely to be found I'd add a flasher to keep the Naoko occupied. Our LFS had a nice McCosker's Yellowfin Flasher a couple of bays away from the Naoko's , so I picked him up yesterday too. Drip acclimated them and added them last night just as the lights went out. Both ate shortly after being added and again this morning. They are getting along, there has been some posturing, but no real aggression. Both are ok with the Citron Goby, they mostly ignore him. charnelhouse
Added 2 turbo snails, 2 astrea snails and some ceriths from my LFS yesterday. Think I might have jumped the gun a little. Might need to supplement some algae. Newb. The sinularia is almost out of it's post transfer cocoon, polyps are almost all back out. Ricordeas are still shrunken. Devil's hand still looks terrible, but it is extending polyps again finally. Disco mushrooms are still adjusting, but looking pretty good. I'll try to do some pics this weekend if I get a chance.
