I was at the LFS today to buy another sexy shrimp. The owner always has me net the stuff I want, which I never asked for, but I think is cool. I went in to get the shrimp and the resident GCG emerged from under a rock and perched himself halfway up the wall, about three inches away from the net, as if to say "pick me".

Your Clown Goby looks awesome!

Thanks guys!

So, after my gorg died I was a little pissed with the damsel, but kind of wrote it off as having been caused by multiple factors. But today, seeing the huge lumps that the damsel has been leaving on the clown goby, I decided it was time to do some indoor fishing.

So the damsel has shown nothing but suspicion for the fish trap. What is more is that I woke up to find my new clown goby deceased, likely as a result of the aggression. It looks like if I want rid of the dasmel I will have to remove the rock work.

Wow- sorry to hear that- I think your right - gotta go in and remove the damsel. Damsel are famous for that type of behavior

Yeah, I went ahead and bought this damsel about a year ago because Julian Sprung recommended them as (relatively) peaceful, and they have these beautiful blue rings in their eyes. I probably won't try and catch him again until I break down the tank for my next move in February or March, but after that he is going to the LFS where they have a display tank with a group of these village belle damsels.

The question is, what fish, if any, should I replace him with?

Your tearing down your tank in Feb. or March? Moving? Are you going to keep the same tank or get another one? Blenny's are cool and relative peaceful. Clowns and Chromis are always an easy keep too but that clown goby was nice!

The GCG was awesome, I would like to get another someday. I am only moving across town and will be keeping the tank the same. The idea of getting a juvenile clownfish is really growing on me. I know it would eventually need a bigger tank, but I am planning to upgrade to a bigger tank in a year...

I'm sorry to hear about your GCG, man! When you upgrade, I recommend a 20L Nuvo Fusion! I'm getting mine in a few days and I'm stoked about getting it set up. I'll start my own thread then, as well.

As far as fish goes, I would get a bangai cardinal (or two if your larger tank will support it!).

Awesome dude! I will be sure to follow along once you get it set up. What are you going to put in the new tank?

  • 2 weeks later...

I just got back after a week away, and the tank looks awesome! I cleaned the glass and snapped some photos this evening. My corals don't look this good when I am here to maintain the tank, so clearly I am doing something wrong. I couldn't get any good photos of it, but the PE on my M. Setosa is better than I have ever seen it.

Thanks!

Nice! So did you ever get the triton salt or salt supplement ?

I did get some of their salt mix. It came in a little bucket that only makes like 50 liters. It's supposed to be mixed all at once, and I don't have a container big enough so I haven't used it yet. I think I'm just going to hold onto it for a while until I build a larger, more triton-appropriate tank.

I want a trachy with a badness. I don't think I have room though. Maybe I could create enough space by mounting some of the corals to the rock work...
