Bella's Reef

Thanks - tanks been running for more than a month & I finally did a 4 gallon water change today.

RBTA seems to have found his spot and got some frags a glued down. I picked up some ricordea & other mushrooms.

Hopefully a FTS tomorrow when all settles.

No new FTS yet.

I had my hands in the tank last night after adding a Torch, Duncans, Dragon Eye Zoa's and a Orange Digitata. My wife has been wanting a Torch so she bought that and all of the other corals.

Now to sit back, let things grow and save up some money.

I love that your wife is into reefing too! That definitely helps with the costs and allows you to spring for the beautiful corals that you have.

I gotta find me a sugar momma B)

She has a thing for purple torch since our last setup, we had a huge colony that she loved. If there is something she likes she does not have a problem buying it, especially if I wont.

Just gotta keep them happy, I was hearing it for having my hands in the tank two nights in a row last night :)

Not a good week for the reef tank, came home one day last week to wet carpet due to the skimmer overflowing all day dumping 2-4 gallons onto the floor.

That was followed by coming home one day to see the RBTA melting away, followed by this morning our PS Goby passing away.

Damn sorry to hear about the troubles! When it dumped the water out of the skimmer did an ATO refill it lowering the salinity, or do you think something else is going on as well??

In this case - no ATO thank God ... I just manually fill nightly. I had some saltwater mixed so I refilled. Not sure if a temp swing and this may have affected the fish and rbta.

The RBTA was always refusing to eat - so I think it was dying anyway. Most picky nem I have ever had.

I did notice the goby suck in big chunks of gravel & not spit/sift it like usual a day or so before as well.

Everything else is looking super healthy and I have had a huge bloom in pods, rocks are maturing and getting a green coraline.

Headed to get RO tonight and look what the local LFS has for frags & fish. I really want a black snowflake clownfish.

Man that really sucks, atleast some things are going in the right direction with the tank maturing good :)

Goodluck on finding some nice goodies at the LFS!

Got a deal from a local closing his tank down & picked up a Randalls Goby & Pistol shrimp pair, softball size bright orange monti, bleached flower petal monti, bleached black hole favia, tiny blasto frag & a amazing dragon soul favia frag.

Man you weren't lyin that black hole really is bleached pretty good, looks like it should come back fairly easily tho.... low light!!!

Also, if you aren't completely set on where that monti is, I'd move it (like shooting off the back left of the rock kinda in the middle to the left of the nem, and right of the torch, or lowered same area it is in but shooting off the back/ right behind the square frag plug on the right side).... where it is it will overgrow and block the bottom right side of the tank in no time... or you will be throwing frags away often.

Moving it will also open that top up to more sps which would give you the chance at more color then just red up there ;)

Chris, Monti has been moved and the picture of the black hole made it look good compared to when I got it, it was terrible - it is looking better now - still low light and low flow.

Pretty sure I had something eating my zoanthids/palys so I bought a Yellow Coris Wrasse, very cool fish. Lost a 20 polyp frag from Preus and a Tubbs frag as well as some other damage to others. I found a nudi and removed it.

Since the RBTA and Pink Spot kicked the bucket, the tank has been doing really well, I think temp swings played a big role and now those are under control with the AC being set.

I knew I shouldn't have bought the blastos, as they kicked it, small colony was already dying and I couldn't save it.

Glad to hear pretty much everything is on the mend and doing better. That sucks about the nudi's tho. While the coris will keep them in check and limit their numbers they won't often fully erradicate them, I would personally suggest doing a dip as well if you haven't already.

Traded the monti for a small "green grape" bta & started dosing kalkwasser with top offs. I need to take some new picture, the Dragon Soul favia has started to take off and has morphed into even better colorings & the bleached blackhole is coming back nicely.
