Elite Corals Australia just had this one come up, they classify this as an 8/10, was listed at $500-$600 and sold already.

Nice.....that is close to a perfect master...because it's not perfectly round but close enough, not too much orange, perfect lol.

You have a lot of time on your hands...

I wonder how many of those are in tanks with zero filtration???

Lol. Enough for now.

They're all probably not in nano tanks.

I want to see some $1000 scoly's in this thread. Quit being a cheap ass :P:)

Lolol whoa whoa, that's out of my limit... I will never spend 1k on a scoly... Maybe $500 on one someday later but never over that lol.

When I said I was a cheapass I meant like a $5 frag or something lol, what I'm paying for these scolys are not close to being a cheapass :D

Thanks man!! I do weekly maintenance on my tank which consists of 30% water drain at 1st, then scrubbing the whole glass tank and pipes, and then another 30-40% water drain, then at last, I add the 60-70% new water back. Just wanted to share how I keep it clean sir. :)

I'm exhausted just reading this ;). Definitely do away with all your filtration if you're changing water that aggressively.

Lol, yupp! Going to do zero filtration soon. Just mp10 for the appeals and flows.

I saw that one already, seen better masters for cheaper. I went to reef-a-palooza in October and there was this perfectly round master scoly with red stripes instead of orange (more rare) at $500, but it was small. Going to wait for that one round master at $300-400 in my area code. :)

Then suffer the weeks after that purchase lolol. That means less dining out and more home cooking....lolol.

1k scoly > 10x $100 scolys

Smaller tank with badass scolys > large tank with mediocre scolys

In the end, cost is the same.

Yeah I see where you're going with this. Maybe I can score an unique master at $500 that comes out to be worth $1000 online. :)

That's crazy though, I've never seen myself spending that much on a single scoly lolol.

I'm with you on less eating out. I definitely eat my money... haha.

I tend to agree that it's worth it to drop the cash on something killer and have "less" than a bunch of average or slightly above average. It's the difference between "nice tank" and "holy crap that's awesome!"

Yeah I know. Time will tell I guess, I just don't know when....I really do hope I can score some crazy scolys in the near future though. I'm definitely looking forward to max in April, more eyecandys to drool over and think about lol. Maybe they'll have some crazy scolys for fair prices..

I wish I didn't have to eat. I would save so much money.... It's all nice.... until its over.. and you're like #### why did I order such an expensive meal?

Yupp that's how it goes. Home cooking is always the best IMO, more healthy and cost saving. But less tasty and more work...lol. Well for me.

Last I checked scoly's didn't require a whole lot of water circulation. Not sure what the "appeals" are by adding one? You could just add a small koralia and have more money for scoly's :). That would suit your tank better than an mp10, and also makes sense, soooo.....

Link to comment

MP10 is controllable and looks nicer, I would just do a Koralia or similar, maybe a Tunze (They also make cool fake rocks for Tunze's)

Yeah, but in a 10g holding corals that require low flow you really can't utilize the capabilities of the mp10 effectively.

Did you say Tunze w/ fake rock? That's blasphemy!! How dare you suggest anything that resembles a rock in this thread!!!

Yeah I have thought about that, but I want to experience the mp10 ownership. Everyone seems to say its one hella bang for the buck it seems. I know there's nothing really proprietary about it other than the wet/dry side of it and the controllership? I just want to own one lol, for the heck of it lol.

Lolol!!! Good job, you finally projected how I would react to a fake rock, even worse...real rock is so much better lol. Still bad though, but still worse.

I think the MP10 will look cleaner than the alternatives... my reaction to wires in the aquarium is similar to yours with rock...

In my mind the advantage of the MP10 is less about all the settings and more about the broad flow that it creates rather than the targeted stream of many other powerheads. That said, you should spend the money on a $800 scoly instead of a $500 one and use a K1 ;)

Lolol!! You made me outburst a loud laugh in the library...

I agree with you that the mp10 is much more appealing to look at and get used to.. I also have to point out that whenever I clean my tank, I not only scrub the inside of my tank...but also I use a wet/dry cloth to wipe the inner glass portion(top where the water level stops) that's exposed to air, now you see, I'm already having a PITA to do that while lifting my poppy pipes to clean that part....so to eliminate such a procedure, a wet/dry side provided by mp10 allows my ease a bit more. No need to lift the wires whenever I'm using a wet/dry cloth to clean the glass exposing to air.

But still, I still can't see myself spending $800 on a single coral....at least not this early of the reefing stage, maybe when I start making good money, then perhaps I'll give in some insights..

Well, the mp10 as well as all other vortechs have many nice features that are absolutely worth while. However, they just won't be functional for your application.

Your sarcasm detector is either really bad, or mine is....
