You can get close if you purchase a refurbished one, $579 at Adorama: http://www.adorama.com/ICA60DR.html

B&H has a brand new one with a free 16gb SD card for just $599: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/732047-REG/Canon_4460B003_EOS_60D_DSLR_Camera.html

You'll be hard pressed to beat that price, even compared to used 60D's on eBay.

Have you considered the T3i? It has a lot of similar features and the same image sensor, it's only $439 with a kit lens at B&H refurbished: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/827670-REF/Canon_5169B018AA_EOS_Rebel_T3i_Digital.html

My mother promised a friend she would purchase one for them, she assumed cameras were cheap and told them it was only going to be about three hundred, they sent the three hundred and my mom derped when she saw them going for $800 online

The Canon Loyalty Program is usually the cheapest way to go next to finding a good deal on craigslist for a used one.... $300 though, not gonna happen outside of a dim lit alley.

$575 - brand new - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1319594&highlight=60d

$550 - less than 10k actuations - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1321566&highlight=60d

$500 - no idea on age - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1321956&highlight=60d

$525 - 4,600 actuations - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1318704&highlight=60d

I'd say that's your realistic price range for used ones. It may dip a bit below $500 if they had significantly more actuations.

Would the T2i work for good photos also?

Absolutely, the T2i is a fantastic camera, with the same imaging sensor as the T3i, just without the swivel screen on the back. I imagine by now they're difficult to find new or refurbished, though. After looking a little bit, that T3i deal at B&H seems cheaper than buying a T2i kit used: http://www.bhphotovi...3i_Digital.html

Does the 60D come with a 28-135 f/3.5? If that's what he's looking for I actually have one for sale.

I have noooo idea, I just need the body :)

TS tells me it's not the camera body that interests him, it is the lens. So 'kits' aren't what he's looking for.

So at this point I have no idea what I'm posting about.

It depends on what you're shooting, but for tank photography, the body makes very little difference, while the lens is very important. On the other hand, for action photograph, or low light photography, that's not necessarily true.

^^. My D3S picks up more light than I can see and sounds like a gatling while bursting.
