ALexpsycho
Today the first fish in the tank!!! A Bicolor Dottyback semi aggressive given to me by a fish dude...Very nice colors and I think he enjoys the tank by himself.Although his bad reputation he is very colorfull and pretty. I ll stick with bad reputation/semi aggressive fish this time...a sixline wrasse and a yellowtail damsel fish or a couple of clownfish and I m ok with livestock. Link to comment
ALexpsycho
Tank bred pair of clownfish has been added too. Link to comment

ALexpsycho
The Scrubber One of the best things I ve tried is the scrubber(ATS) I had all the mats(with canvas)so I did a waterfall ATS for my sump. Day 1 I found out I could biuld a reflector to protect my skimmer from algae growth. Day 7 i made a reflector for my CLF 12W bulb from a Coca-Cola can. Day 14 2nd Cleaning. and cleaning 3rd Week. 4th Week. 6th Week. 7-8th Week. Conclusions The GHA will grow fast and take care of extra NO3/PO4 from the water column. If the size of the scrubber is proper and lighting, water flow, feeding, livestock are balanced, the system can and will reach ULN conditions by fast nutrient export. It is a more "Green",effective, simple and cheap method to reach ULNS environment without GFO or complicated reactors. Link to comment

ALexpsycho
DIY Vortech Battery Back up using a Lithium Battery. Use it at your own risk as lithium batterys are not the safest, but this model has a bypass system that protects the battery from overcharging/overheating. I got from e-bay a 12V 6800mah lithium battery. I `ve changed the plug,to fit in the controller. and voila. The battery can handle my MP10 for about 10 hours. This battery is not recomended for this duty but it works and sure is cheap. I use it almost 2 years now and every now and then,I full discharge it to test how many hours it can power up my pump. It does work fine every time for 8-10 hours. It is very important to check the battery life before leaving for vications,or for a long time ect. Always leave keys to a friend to take care of your tank. Dont relly on electronics because Merphys law will be applied. I hope you like it,and find it usefull. Cheers! Link to comment
ALexpsycho
How did you go from growing the cyano in your ATS to the green 'turf' algae? Mine's only growing the cyano red slime. Better there than in the tank, but. Mine is submerged though, with vigorous airstone oxygenating. Thanks for the post. I never had Cyanobacteria blooms in this tank. The ATS started with diatoms. Somehow red slime is beating other algae forms and if I was in your shoes,I would clean the screen and start over with more lighting(too weak IMO). Link to comment

Moolelo
Beautiful growth! I have been reading along for awhile and admiring a fellow NSW aquarist. I was curious if you ever filter collected water? Ever worried about plankton coming into the system? (happens despite temp difference) The algae scrubber is brilliant also, though I have seem them before, it is great to know that it is so effective for you. Link to comment
frankdontsurf
Please keep us posted on the Adruino controller! Link to comment
ALexpsycho
Mr.Moolelo thanks for the post. I use only a filter sock to filter the water I collect.Plankton is good for corals. In fact I try to collect water at night because I get more plankton this way. Ok here comes the update. I got my left eye poisoned by palythoa toxin while I was fragging...I took treatment and I am back in the game. Mr.Frankdontsurf Thanks for the post. The RSM is open and ready for brain transplant! the stock timerswitch is leaving and arduino mega is coming! pics we all love pics ! tomorrow I ll finish it I hope... Can you tell me what these are? I have some and have yet to find a name for them. IMO they look like everlasting gobstopper zoas. Cheers! Link to comment
