Hi, thanks. I took the photos just after a water change so that helped. The water is usually pretty clear though, I had to get lucky with some parts of reef keeping.

One of my LED bulbs went out this morning, it's an LEDtric bulb and when the timer came on it started to flash, the other bulb is fine thankfully and they're plugged into the same timer so it's the bulb not the timer. Contacted LEDtric and am waiting for a response, hopefully their customer service will be good and deal with this issue quickly.

My parents just came back from Hawaii and my mam brought me a bit of rock she pulled out of the ocean to put in my tank. I'm probably going to have to wash it first but it's cute and has some nice holes in it, maybe i can glue my acans on it and make a little acan island.

I went along to the WORC frag swap yesterday and picked up a few new frags. Got a 3 inch piece of mint green staghorn which doesn't look mint green under my lack of light. Also got a piece of pokerstar monti which was sold to me dirt cheap since it's slightly browned, once my light comes back to me and the monti is given a bit of time i see no reason for it not to recover and be lovely. I was very tempted by quite a few other things but sadly my cash flow situation is getting a bit bad so i limited myself to the 2 frags and a new turbo snail.

I did see some lovely clams though, and if i had the money i probably would have gotten one.

On the light front, Mike at LEDtric has been great, he's replacing my bulb with a brand new full spectrum one. He said i should have less issues with a new one, once it turns up i'll leave a nice review for them. Hopefully tomorrow i'll get my new light in the mail.

I managed to get one semi decent photo of the stag, it's on the side of the tank with no light over it, it was taken with mostly just the light from the window.

The new corals have been in the tank for about a month and already they look so much better. I got everything glued in place once they had acclimated to my light.

Monti not browned out any more :)

This birdsnest has grown so much since it was added, it looks like the 3 main pieces are going to intertwine which will be really interesting

Thanks. I was taking photos just as my lights went out so i missed getting mushroom pics, tomorrow i'll try and get some. I still haven't found a different colour to brighten up the cave but i'm sure one will come along sooner or later.

I've been neglecting my tank for a while, i've got an exam coming up and it's sucking all of my time right now.

I did manage to get a few photos though while i was helping an acan with a puking issue and a hammer losing it's head.

My hammer has this worm under it

I suspect the worm has been irritating the head closest to it because a few days ago that head let go of the coral. Luckily i managed to rescue it before it did any damage to the corals under it or ended up floating under the rock. So now i have a baby hammer coral :)

I just love this birdsnest, it's growing so fast and it's always so fluffy and happy.

One of my acans took on a snail and lost. I think it tried to eat the snail and ended up having to puke it's own guts out, it's looking sad and pathetic right now but i'm sure it'll perk up after a while.

My dad is supposed to be getting a dslr soon so my photos will probably improve in quality soon.

Hey, thanks! The baby is doing great, already seems to have grown some.

My dad just got a new dslr camera which i will steal as son as i can to take some better photos.

I also just got an order from BRS, new filter material, new powerhead to replace the one that died, and i finally got a refractometer which i will calibrate as soon as i get a few minutes.

Thanks!

I have 2 bulbs approx 8-10 inches from the water. I also have eggcrate over the tank (to stop kitties jumping in). The ridge on the monti looks white but i think that's just due to the crappy cell phone camera, it's light purple in actual life :)

Yeah, maybe just a little, i think it's expanded more because i moved it away from other things.

Today when i was cleaning the filter equipment and such i found what looks a lot like a little limpet. I almost didn't see it and was rinsing off the media basket with ro water when it moved (didn't like the ro water probably) so i dipped the whole thing back in salt water and it just went back to it's business. It's cute! I don't recall seeing it before and since it apparently lives int eh filter i don't think i'll see it again for a while.

I didn't even think about pods. just got rid of all those swirly little filter feeder things, and some kind of weird pink slime which might have been a gross sponge. I got new carbon and gfo in my brs order last week and wanted to change everything out so it was shiny and new.

I just got an amazing deal due to a pricing mess up at the local petsmart. Picked up a 40b for $33!! So once I find a stand, get new sand, rocks and cycle the beast I'll be upgrading. Bout it e too, my corals are starting to pick on each other, an Alan had a baby mushroom snack last night too so it's time things were spaced out a bit. Also plan on more fish.

Awesome deal! I'm thinking of keeping my BC14 and using it for fragging, though the temptation to make a bit of $$ back is also tempting (b/c then I'd have more money for more fish  !).

That's a great idea. I'm thinking of using the 20g in that sort of capacity, like a hospital/frag/qt tank. I think once i've moved everything over i'll keep the 20g running and get a yellow watchman goby (if i can find a nice one locally) and qt it before adding it to the 40b.

Congrats! That's an awesome price!!!!! :)

Thanks, their loss is my salty gain!!

The upgrade is going much slower than i had hoped. I just haven't had time to finish the stand, it's so close to being done! Hopefully a few more weekends will see it finished and in my house. Then i can attempt to plumb my 40b and 20g sump.

Until then, please enjoy some photos of the newest infestation in my 20g :/

Brittle stars. They're everywhere. As much as i like a good starfish and think they're kind of fun to watch waving in the flow this is ridiculous. I was cleaning the power heads and noticed i was pulling quite a few out but didn't worry about it too much. After i'd turned the power back on and gone into the kitchen to clean something i came back to this sight. They're irritating the hammer and the zoas at this point so most of them (maybe all if i can do it) will have to go. Luckily in the upgrade i'm planning on new rock so i can take care of the flatworm issue (which hasn't been too bad recently) so the starfish population will be dealt with then too. I'm not entirely sure what to do with them when i catch them though.

Tank is also experiencing a limpet boom, i sort of suspect i am feeding too much.

I came up with a fantastic way to help rid my tank of brittle stars; i decided to offer them for free on the local reef site. So far I've had 2 people pick up baggies of starfish with 2 more people on a list for when i can catch more of them. Luckily they like the power head so when i remove the ones in there new ones quickly take their place.

I'm getting ready to frag my pink birdsnest and green styplopora, hopefully today if i can pick up some glue. I'm doing the birdsnest because i knocked it off it's rock and now it's on the sand bed waiting for the tank move and it getting in the way of the devils hand; once it's fragged i might put it back on the rock for now. I might even cut the staghorn while i'm at it and hopefully sell a few frags to help fund the new tank. The baby hammer will also go up for sale.

Still no further on with the new tank stand, work has been super busy and my helper handyman has gone to England for the week and i need him to hold things.

I can't wait to see Lizzy in her new bigger tank, i bet she'll hate it, she seems to hate everything.

I'm pretty proud of myself, i fragged corals tonight :)
