I've seen much larger tanks built in this fashion that have been holding critters for quite a while (one of them is at least 3 years old). They do use a glass brace siliconed across the top in the middle, but they're also much wider than my dinky little 5g. I was worried about using 1/8" glass, but even after filling it and applying pressure with my hands, I could not get the font to warp as much as my 10g store-bought does, so I feel pretty damn confident. Looking at the top lining on my 10g, I'm not convinced it does much anyway. But it was also a very cheap 10g. Link to comment
