They are almost exclusively sand sifters and will most definitely not eat anything directly added to the tank. By the look of your substrate it is far too course and the goby would most likely starve to death. I would consider them non jumpers(as low of a risk as you could ask for anyway) as mine never strays from the lower regions of the tank and isn't easily spooked either. All of the above also applies for the Rainford goby. Link to comment
