jarred1
i cant get coralline algae to grow. need some tips on how to get it to grow Link to comment
pismo_reefer
thanks for soft corals is dKH: 10 good? I keep dkh-10, cal-440.... I dont know if you know, but alk/cal work in direct correlation (sp?) These numbers are stable. Alk/Cal(ppm) 8 - 400 9-420 10-440 11-480 (12-14)-500 If you're not growing coralline en masse... your Calcium is low.... start dosin' brudda! Or consider checking the levels in yer salt mix. Link to comment
jarred1
my calcium is 420, and i use NSW. Link to comment
pismo_reefer
my calcium is 420, and i use NSW. 420 is slightly low..... Do you buy yer saltwater from an lfs? I ask, cuz if its premade water that sits, it can precipitate the calcium. The Magnesium levels can also drop if not properly circulated. Id start adding Mg to your nsw, if this is in fact the case. Also, find out what brand of salt they use.... Teh new batches of "Instant Ocean" have 50% of the required Mg! I use "IO Reef Crystals" because they load it w/ trace elements. (and the proper amount of mg!) Link to comment
jarred1
i do get my water from my lfs, they get the water from the ocean. ill go check calcium and alk right now and tell you what its at. i dont see why i cant get coralline to grow but all over the back wall of the tank i have tube worms growing, they use cal to build their tubes...
