I picked up an AC20 today.

just sayin'.

 

nice i got an AC30 delivered today booyah lol so are you going to make it into a fuge? thats what im planning with the AC30

I was gonna go w/ the AC50,

but the guy @ the lfs brought up a valid point...

oohh you scardy cat lol. if you were that worried just put something under the filter to support it so it wont tip over lol.

It's attached to the AC20 intake, and acts as a Surface Skimmer....

 

Keeps the crud off the surface of the water,

a big problem in lower flow environments, like picos.

The sponge will be replaced w/ Chemipure in a few days.

The Thermometer is off by 3*F.... just so you know ;)

i've been wanting to do the same surface skimmer for awhile. my buddy uses 5 of the coralife temp gauges and averages them to get an idea of what his tank is.

you cant see it in the shots,

but I drilled a 1/4" hole in the back of the horizontal peice....

 

That way it can still pull water, even if the level is lower than the skimmer tube.

what a cool mod on that filter pismo!! i would have guessed too much air would get in and cavitate the pump but obviously not. this is probably the coolest experimentation subforum out there, you guys have neat ideas all the dang time

Gotta hide the pipe somehow. Detracts from the tank IMO. Would be a little better if the two 90's were just cemented together without the tube in between them.
