NanoReefNovice
I have a possible conjecture for the cain of action wich lead to the demise of our good friend Mr Turbo... The departed Mr. Turbo fell on in back w/o a way to right himself. The opportunist Tuxedo Urchin and blue legged crab took advantage his vulnerable position for an easy meal. Link to comment
Hoonie778
Ahhhh so wise NanoReefNovice! I bet that is indeed what happened. Snails can be so helpless, I'm constantly having to flip them over.... grrrrr!! Alas, I will not replace Mr. Turbo Instead, Colonel Spikeface (the urchin) will just have more yummy algae to eat! NanoReefNovice
Colonel Spikeface.... nice. Link to comment
Hoonie778
So I was looking at upgrading my powerhead and maybe adding a wavemaker. Man is it confusing. How in the crap am I supposed to know how many horse-power the powerhead should be for a 24gallon? Do my fish really want to have waves from a wavemaker? BLAH! So complicated. Link to comment
NanoReefNovice
Im thinking reefkeeper... http://www.digitalaquatics.com/saltwater/RKL Link to comment
DrCooper
Nice tank. I like grumpy face and his pistol shrimp! I have a yellow watchman, he is also rather grumpy! Link to comment
Hoonie778
So the reefkeeper... does it have a wavemaker in it? Or does it just control a wavemaker?! I do like that it has alarms if something goes awry. And thanks PSYS and DrCooper! On a separate note: Yesterday I saw my pistol shrimp first roll a snail away from his burrow. He took his little claws and just started rolling the snail like crazy! Then, a few minutes later he tried to drag the snail into the burrow! BAD BAD BAD pistol shrimpie! The poor snail was probably like "HEY, WTF?!" Link to comment
NanoReefNovice
So the reefkeeper... Yes it has a dual integrated softstart wavemaker, plus light timers. Pretty sure its my next upgrade. Once you price it out it seems the most resonable choce. As far as flow im running two MJ1200s and its awseome. Link to comment
Hoonie778
That does sound pretty cool. Have you read any reviews on the product? I shall look some up! On an exciting note, I have had some considerable growth of green, teal, and purple algae... huzzah! I also changed my first chamber from a sponge filter to filter floss tonight. I hope I like it better than the sponge, I thought the sponge was super gross... blech! Link to comment

Hoonie778
Thanks for the input Qwank Which level do you have? 1, 2, 3? I'm assuming for a 24g we'd only need level 1? Being a newbie is so frustruating sometimes... grrrrr.... I wish I knew everything there is to know! Link to comment
Qwank
i got the level 3 because i needed 2 PC4s. but you could easily do it with a level 1. unfortunatly, i had a salt water accident with my SL1 so its now a 2.5. lol! not really. i ended up trading the PH probe for some frags of SPS though. dont worry aboutbeing a newbie, we all start off there Link to comment
Hoonie778
I was lookin' at my tank today, and I was like "WTF??!?! THERE'S A SNAIL WITH NO SHELL ON MY TONGA ROCK!!" So I then came to the wonderous interweb, and searched I have a creepy Stomatella cruisin' around! Looks just like a snail without a shell, and it's pretty big!!! I'd say maybe 1.5inches? I tried to get a pick but he was so within the branching tonga rock on top that it was impossible for me to find on the picture. But hooray for a new creepie beneficial hitchhiker! YAY! Hoonie778
Yep, it definitely looked beige/black striped I can't believe how big it was though, and that I've never seen it before! (I work from home, and stare at the tank for hourssssssssssss) I'll try and get a pic, but they really, really, really look just like the live rock Link to comment

Hoonie778
I feel ya! But it will be nice when the b/w's get older... we can compare our old pics of our little orange faced blackies to how they look all black! Link to comment
Hoonie778
The clowns are truly clowns. When they sleep they kinda half swim half lay dead on the sand.... They bite the crap out of my hand if any of my flesh enters the tank When they poop is like a pink-flake-colored food explosion They stare at my YWG and his shrimpie like they want to eat them both. Major Grumpyface shows the clowns who's boss my opening his mouth at them! They are in love with each other, awe My flasher wrasse seems to have joined their posse, and all three of them swim together alllll day long. Crazy! If I open my lid to feed, both clowns stick their faces up out of the water at me. I'm very happy with my little piggies, I mean clownies. Link to comment
