neanderthalman
because MG has a much higher refractive index than sodium chloride, and the salinity estimates made by a refractometer are dependant upon a known MG concentration Considering variation in MG should only be a few hundred PPM, the effect on refractive index is negligible at best. Besides - it's precision, not accuracy, that is required. Quote Link to comment
