Lebowski_ Posted February 14, 2009 Share Posted February 14, 2009 I am unsure of what I should do about my protein skimming (or lack thereof). We have a sale at my work on Turbofloaters, $299.99. But I've also heard that Octpus skimmers are best bang for the buck. My tank is 65g. What is your opinion? Is the Turbofloater worth the $300? Link to comment

ajmckay Posted February 14, 2009 Share Posted February 14, 2009 I'm also looking for a skimmer to replace my seaclone (bought it not knowing that it sucked... ran for 3 weeks and I got 1/2 inch of yellow water skimmate) I'm seriously considering either the octopus BH 1000, or the BH 100F. I have a 29 gallon tank and it means a lot to me to have the pump outside the tank... From what I hear the octopus skimmer (specifically the BH100F) is a real beast and is like a CPR bak-pak on steroids (much bigger). I haven't heard that much about the BH 1000, but the design looks simple (which probably means it works well) and the octopus needle wheel pumps are supposed to be good. My only concern is noise... I'm wondering how noisy it is, and so far I haven't found anyone with the skimmer to ask questions to. Keep us updated on what you choose. Link to comment
