Codeman
Day 24 Just completed a small battery of tests. Temp ---------------------- 80° F pH ------------------------ 8.0 Spec. Gravity ---------------- 1.026 Alk ------------------------ Normal Ammonia ------------------- 0 ppm Nitrite --------------------- 0 ppm Nitrate --------------------- 0 ppm I'm wondering if I just didn't get a big cycle because I used fully cured live rock and live sand. My snails seem to be acting strange, maybe reaction to the new light cycle I put into effect 2 days ago? A lot of the dwarf Ceriths seem to be laying on their backs sticking out of their shells. Most of the Nerites are still zooming around. They aren't dead, when I move water near them or poke them, they retract into their shells. Anyone got any ideas? I also noticed this a few days ago, I think it's a sponge. It's about 1 mm across and white. It extends small feather-duster like radioles for filter feeding, I assume. Anyine know what it is? Sorry I can't get a better shot So, I'll give it one more week, hopefully build and install my media rack and cover the sump, then I plan on getting couple Zoa frags, a mushroom and some GSP from Brian92. Almost forgot, FTS Du Jour: The water's cleared nicely since my last shot a day or two ago. Link to comment
brian92
The white things are sponges I have some of them in my tank. They filter out food from the water column, don't spread fast. They're beneficial and harmless. Link to comment

Codeman
Well I ordered a RO/DI unit from purewaterclub.com for $86.50 shipped. Tomorrow will be the tank's first water change and I am picking up some corals! My snails seem to be waking up from their coma, some of them at least. That's about it for now. I'll post pics tomorrow! Link to comment
Codeman
Day 28: My First Corals I got 3 frags today: A mini Colony of Eagle Eyes, some kind of frilly mushroom? and some GSP. (Thanks Brian92) They are all in the tank and very happy! Latest FTS: Eagle Eyes Mushroom (ID, anyone?) GSP, gonna let it cover up my overflow box What does everyone think? Link to comment
Codeman
Today is my tank's 1 Month Birthday! It's come a long way in just a month! Day 1: Day 28: Notice the difference? Link to comment
O-man21
GSP, gonna let it cover up my overflow box What does everyone think? That is actually a photosynthetic gorgonian. Looks a lot like GSP and should be treated the same as GSP. Just thought I'd let you know. Link to comment

O-man21
Yea just treat it like GSP. I had some of that in my biocube. Link to comment

Codeman
As I said Friday I picked up two new Corals and a Peppermint Shrimp (punk) who is in solitary in my fuge for bothering my corals nonstop. He's an eating machine. Here's my picture dump, sorry its late. I'm liking my progress here! Here's the big frag I picked up. Lots of little Zoas! It fits perfectly on top of my arch. I have been informed that this is not GSP, but a gorgonian. Either way its spreading nicely and loves to sway in the current. )Sorry for crappy pic) My little Pink Freckled purple mushroom. Love it! This is the frag the mushie came from. Got it for $5 and its got a bunch of feather dusters and little green zoas on it too! Well, what does everyone think? I plan on doing another battery of tests tomorrow and sorting through my Dwarf Ceriths as some seem to be dead. I also need to get a little BL hermit army to clean up the diatoms in my sand. Too bad I'm broke. Also, my RO/DI unit is set to arrive wednesday. Got it from purewaterclub.com for $86.50 shipped. Its a 6 stage filter and is supposed to put out 0ppm water. Anyone have experience with the site? Link to comment
Codeman
So yesterday I did some water tests and glued several frags in place. I like the way it turned out. Pics: My little branch w/polyps glued in place. Another angle My Purple mushroom, now attached to the rock. Frilly Mushroom glued down. And my gorgs glued to the overflow box. Params as of 11/25: pH: 8.0 Temp: 79.5 SG: 1.025 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0 Alk: ~1.8, added a couple drops of Red Sea Buff Everyone seems happy and the mushrooms seem to be growing! Also, my RO unit should arrive within the next couple hours... Link to comment

Codeman
Well, I just got done dipping 2 of my frags because I was pulling nudis off them. Just because I got em glued down, the little buggers had to show up and start munching. Oh well, hopefully they're all DEAD now. Link to comment
Codeman
First update in a while! Went to the LFS yesterday, got some GSP and a 4 head frag of trumpet coral. Seems my Peppermint Shrimp couldn't handle the excitement of all the new corals, he is no longer with us. I've been thinking about getting a cleaner shrimp instead. Also hoping to get some Ricordea soon. Pics later on! Link to comment

Codeman
looks real good, bro! i cant wait to see those gorg's take over that OF....keep it up! Thanks, man! Oh, yeah. That's what I left out of my updates. The gorgs. I had to let 'em go. The frag plug got totally overrun with all sorts of nasty algae, so I tossed it, the sacrifice was worth keeping all that junk from spreading. Figures, it was growing real well, too But, I can always do the same with some of my GSP. Link to comment
Codeman
I rearranged a little and moved he trumpet coral to a more permanent location. Then the trumpet sent out feeder tentacles, so I started feeding! Holy picture dump, Batman! Today's FTS Another view I think I'm going to frag these two polyps and start a new colony of 'em. They're growing on my Eagle eye frag but look different, so we'll see... These little guys are spreading nicely My GSP, nice and opened up now! I'm hungry! I'm going to fill this spot with more mushrooms Munchin' on Mysis Om nom nom And, the frilly mushroom eating Cool! Link to comment
Codeman
Got enough snails? Lol, does your mystery tank (or any other tank) need dwarf ceriths? Link to comment
