non-photosynt
Protein skimmers remove food by-product = True?Overfeeding causes algae = true? Therefore skimmers reduce algae ? is this true? 1. Some of by-products. 2. Nutrients, left in water column. Not all food, added to the tank, will be consumed. Dissolved organics will be left, and not all will be removed by many skimmers. 3. Not, in my case. I have: Turboflotor 1000, ASM G-3, ASM Mini, Tunze Nano DOC smallest, Rio Nano, analog BacPac 2 PS, Lee's CC large, Visi-Jet. They help not too much, but better, than nothing. Try to match input and output of nutrients, if your corals allow that, do not let detritus accumulate in the tank (without being removed by filtration), adding powerheads on wavemaker, sweeping detritus from under the rock and up, may help, increasing amount of water, pulled through filtration too. Then skimmer may help. Link to comment
