luxo1
Kyle: Thanks for the info -- if I understand correctly: 1. You will be able to buy your new protein skimmer with the old impeller, and then get a free upgrade when the new one comes out? 2. Oceanic Biocubes are switching from the Rio's in chamber three to maxijets? 3. Sapphire has not yet determined when the new skimmers will be on sale, and what the price will be. Thanks. ---Luxo1, aka Chip Link to comment
Sapphire Aquatics
1. Not so sure about the free part, but most certainly a reduced price, or just cover the cost of shipping. 2. Oceanic has their own pumps for the return. I was referring to the skimmer pump we had been using, the Rio 600RV. We will be using th MJ 900 from now on for the venturi pump that comes with the skimmer. Sorry for the confusion there. 3. Look to Nanotuners.com for the first batch of BC29R sometime next week. I still need to put all of the final numbers together to determine the MSRP. Link to comment
luxo1
Kyle: Wouldn't you rather we buy the new skimmer from you, and your Sapphire website rather than nanotuners? Should I wait a few weeks, for the new propeller part, or is it going to be a while......what's your philosophy on this? ---Chip Link to comment
SPerry
So is the cool new impeller going to be available for the NC 12 skimmers? Link to comment

lrac2006
any chance of a trade-in credit for those of us with the original sapphire? I've had really no poblems with it but it would be nice to have some sort of pump adjustment. I'm still happy I bought it when it first came out... Jeff Link to comment

ddols
I too am looking for a skimmer for the Aquapod 24. Sapphire's and Nanotuner's sites have listed these as back ordered for the few weeks that I've been looking. Maybe that's a good thing if you are in the process of upgrading the design and pump. I would much rather have the MJ900 over a Rio pump. So what i the ETA of the skimmers into stock? And will they be getting the new pump design? Link to comment
John30507
I heard about micro bubbbles being put into the main display with this skimmer. Has the problem been resolved? Link to comment

grumpyspot
I keep my BC29 in a bedroom. How noisy is this thing? Should it be run 24 hours a day? Thanks! Link to comment
luxo1
Kyle hasn't posted anything in a long time....I wonder what is going on. Is the new Sapphire skimmer a go? Link to comment
Sapphire Aquatics
Sorry for thee delay everyone. Just finishing up some last minute details with the new skimmer and some other new products. SPerry - The new impeller will hopefully be available for the pumps we use currently. We are working on a deal with Sicce pumps in Italy to produce all of our pumps from now on so I can't say for certain what is going to happen. pete159 - I have tried modifying many other pumps to work with the entire line, but none have performed as well. It is very difficult to produce a large volume of bubbles and contain it in such a small space. Please feel free to contact me directly if you are having any trouble. lrac2006 - Sorry, no credit options will be offered. You will be able to upgrade your input pump to the Maxi-jet 900 with the new impeller. This will increase your skimmate collection drastically. We are looking in to having the collection cup injection molded soon, and this will be a drop in replacement for you as well. luxo1 - I will be revising the website this week to make it more informative, and possibly removing the store. Nanotuners is one of our premier retailers and I am happy to give them this opportunity to unveil the product. ddols - The AP24 skimmer will be back in stock this week. We have been trying to focus on the BC29R production, but are back on track now. John30507 - Microbubbles being released back in to the tank is common for every skimmer out there while it "breaks in". The newly designed BC29R has an almost unnoticeable break in time because the input pump only pushes in 30 to 58 GPH so it has very little flow through the body. grumpyspot - The skimmer is very quiet, just as it was before. Some people complain about the falling water noise but there are ways of quieting the trickle to an almost inaudible level. Link to comment
noobwithatank
Kyle, i have gone through both threads of yours reguarding this skimmer. As i am pretty much being forced to shut down my bigger tank, due to a move with the gf, i have been looking at the bc29. now i have a few questions/concerns. 1. since i am in canada, is there anyplace from canada i can order from? 2. " ", do i get a warranty? or am i screwed? 3. how much of a bioload would this be able to handle? like will it be "rated" for something more the the bc29 as in which it was made for? that is it for now, if i have anymore i will post. thanks -mike Link to comment
luxo1
Kyle: If we buy the new Sapphire Protein Skimmer, am I correct that it will not have the new impeller improvement that you are seeking to get a patent on? If we buy the unit, we will have to pay an upgrade price down the road to get the new impeller? Do I have my facts straight? Do you have a MSRP yet? When will they actually be for sale? spanko
Kyle, does the MJ900 with the new impeller generate less heat than the current RIO pump used in the old skimmer? Also is the modified MJ900 available now? Link to comment
Sapphire Aquatics
Kyle, does the MJ900 with the new impeller generate less heat than the current RIO pump used in the old skimmer? Also is the modified MJ900 available now? Yes, it generates less heat because it only uses 8.5 watts of power and the powerhead is not submerged. Only the intake is submerged so there is very little heat transfer. The new impeller is not yet available. When it is available, for those customers that have already purchased a skimmer from us, we will be charging the cost to make it plus shipping charges. spanko
Kyle I was speaking of the upgraded pump for the BC29, not the new version skimmer. Link to comment
luxo1
Kyle: I think i will wait for the final model to be released, with the new impeller. That way, I will know the true final cost. Any idea when that might be? ---Lux Link to comment
Sapphire Aquatics
Spanko - The MC900 with the venturi is available for purchase, but not with the new impeller yet. Lux - The total price, with the new impeller (once it's available) will be $174.95. Link to comment
