Aquacraft Salt

Hey all,

 

Does anybody have experience with this brand? I believe it is made out in the Bay area.

Supposedly this stuff is 2nd to none and will eliminate the need to dose. Not only do you mix high quality salt, but it come with liquid supplements that you add during mixing.

 

I just switched from Tropic Marin Pro Reef to IO Reef Crystals and I feel like I have downgraded which concerns me over trace elements.

 

Would appreciate any input. This stuff is not cheap! Thanks.

I've never heard of it, but that doesn't mean much - I'm a newbie. The mixing sounds a little like ESV seawater, but simplified to 2 parts. At $0.90/gallon, it's definitely pricey, but I'm following to hear if anyone has tried it.

 

It sounds like a lot of their claims about comparisons with the competitors are from tests performed in the 90's, so I don't know if they are still applicable.

Those tests used DEMONIZED water. I don't know if I can get that around here, or maybe they don't make it anymore after the exorcism... They're also using gin, which I agree is better than vodka.

Preparation of Solutions:

 

1 – 26 factory-sealed containers of the various synthetic sea salts as described on pages 1,2, and 3 had been received and were collectively assigned Anresco File identification:

 

2 – One at a time, each of the packages were carefully opened at one end, and 60-700 gin were transferred to correspondingly labeled ziploc[®] polyethylene bags. Original packages were resealed with plastic tape.

 

3 – From these ziplock[®] bags, 500.0 gm of salts were sequentially transferred to the pail, and demonized water was added to make solutions as specified on the labels.

 

4 – The prepared solutions were transferred to correspondingly labeled plastic and glass bottles by means of a polyethylene siphon pump. The latter had been acid-rinsed, then rinsed with demonized water, then rinsed with the subject solutions before use.

I would be interested in knowing what levels it mixes at.

I used RSCP for over a year and my tank has a lot of SPS. The salt had high alk and calcium, but those would also precipitate out and the levels in the tank itself fluctuated wildly. I'm wary of using anything that is not in the NSW level range and is enhanced.

Not saying this is, i couldn't find much info, the site is very slow for me.

Interestingly, Aquavitro took out a salt called salinity which was expensive and mixed to perfect levels - inconsistency in batches was reported.

 

I also used a bucket of ESV a couple of years ago - the salt mixed absolutely perfect. But it's expensive.

Recent batches of the salt mixed to unholy levels of phosphates - I know if 2 people that went through major problems because of it.

 

So the thing with salt is that you can get a bad batch, and in my personal opinion, salts that have enhanced levels of anything have not worked well for me because of parameter fluctuations.

Brightwell Neomarine. Bucket #2. So far so good.

Kent. Cheap mixes well and good numbers and it stays pretty darn consistent for the few years i have used it. Tried reef crystals 6 months, Then Brightwell 6 months, then RSCP 6 months, and then kent; its been 2 years and im still on it.
