kakorb
Was wondering how much clams use in small tanks around 20 gallons. Is it easy to keep up with two part or is it enough to cause spikes. Link to comment
gus6464
It's not hard at all if you test and see what you are depleting. Link to comment
VW_TDI_02
To elaborate a bit on what Gus was saying, you simply have to test. Stop dosing and then test your water daily for 3-4 days. Over that long of a time you should be able to see your Ca and Alk begin to drop. Say on Day 1 your Ca was at 450 and then on Day 4 your Ca was at 390. So over four days, your Ca dropped 60 ppm so now you know that you have to dose 15 ppm per day. Over time, your needs will change as you add more corals and as the corals grow so you will have to change your doses later on. Link to comment
kakorb
Based on ur example in 20 gallons would u be able to dose that in a day without spikes in alk ph and precipitation depending on needs of the tank and if sps use more Link to comment
VW_TDI_02
In that case, ideally you would dose 15 mm per day and with a doser you can spread that out across the day. You would do the same for alk but you don't want to dose them both at the same time. Link to comment
kakorb
As long as it's broke down add in increments u can dose as much as u need without doing harm.. Just have to dose little bits more often Link to comment
