Cove
The FTS is your 10 gallon? I am just getting my 10 gallon started as well. Any major hiccups when you got it started? Well I quickly learned 10 wasn't enough space haha! I didn't have any major problems but there are a couple things I learned. 1. Wavemaker over power head. I had the Koralia Nano 425 but the constant flow was destroying my corals. Jebao makes EXCELLENT pumps that blow some of the bigger guys out of the water. 2. Whats the size of your filter or are you doing a sump? I run an AC20 on mine and it really isn't enough. If I were to continue the 10 I would upgrade to a AC70 with an Intank media basket. You can dedicate a slot for chaeto which will lower your nitrates instead of having a bulky skimmer in the tank. Let me know if you have any other questions! Im always willing to help! iadubber
I would maybe switch your sump layout so the chaeto is in the right chamber and the return is in the middle. Then T off your pump return to feed the chaeto chamber slower than the than the rest of the sump. Link to comment

Yeah, I can already see this won't be big enough. I knew that to start though. I really am getting this set up as an experiment in husbandry as well as to get my wife used to the idea of a saltwater display tank. She has no experience with fish tanks and doesn't want to spend a ton of money to get a big display tank set up and then not like it. Link to comment

Can I ask what the benefits are of feeding both at once oppose to feeding it all consecutively? Yeah, I can already see this won't be big enough. I knew that to start though. I saw your thread, I would definitely change the filters if you can! Link to comment
iadubber
Thanks for your input! Can I ask what the benefits are of feeding both at once oppose to feeding it all consecutively? It gives you more flexibility to control the flow tumbling the chaeto. You are limited when you only have one way to adjust flow through a refugium. Some people say a slower tumble gets their chaeto growing better. I've also read that a faster tumble works for some people too. It just allows you room to more fine tune adjust the flow through the skimmer chamber and the refugium. Link to comment
Slowtwitch
Yeah I could say my 10 was an experiment as well. I saw your thread, I would definitely change the filters if you can! What I have on there is really more for water movement than filtration. I will have a sump/fuge if/when I get the bigger tank going. This little guy I want to be mostly biologic filtration. The rest I'll handle with water changes. Link to comment

Cove
Sump is built, tank is plumbed! Pics to come! I need a heater that will fit in my sump, any suggestions? Link to comment
CatfishSoupFTW
I own an eheim heater. pretty damn pleased with it. Rugged build, and the controls are fairly straight forward, and you can somewhat calibrate it. I had a hydor heater i grabbed off of someone, but then it wouldnt turn off... -__- it would just continue heating infinitely, aka a bad thing. haha. After googling it as well, seems like the Hydor fully submersible heaters, at times have this happen to them. Which is kind of scary. I dont own any controllers etc, so that could have gone bad. some people use titanium heaters as well - that way if it blows up, you wont have glass and other bad stuff everywhere. Link to comment

CatfishSoupFTW
Love the custom light stand. My DIY e-drum set Any real notion on why the cymbal has the boom , the other way up? i have never tried it on my kit.. curious as to how it feels. But im never back home often to play around Link to comment
Cove
Love the custom light stand. My DIY e-drum set Thanks mate! Although I need a solution for the light very soon, I'm short on cymbals around my kit -__- Awesome looking kit! Are those stage customs or absolutes? I thought about doing a hybrid e-kit with real cymbals to record since I prefer to have real cymbals over real drums. Any real notion on why the cymbal has the boom , the other way up? i have never tried it on my kit.. curious as to how it feels. But im never back home often to play around Ill chime in and say it works best for crashes or chinas . For a ride cymbal, the cymbal rod would get in the way when you go for the bell, and splashes are too small for such a thing. Link to comment

Cove
So today was insane.. I spent from 9 am- 3 pm looking for a tank to purchase, I called 5 differed local and not so local shops, I called IM who offered to have a tank shipped to me for $300 dollars +350 for the tank.. I said not a chance! Apparently IM shipped a container filled with tanks to the border and they are having a hard time bringing the shipment into Canada.. Im still positive that I'll get this tank soon enough.Positive note! I got the first of the ORA fish today, a sharknose goby! Tiny little guy, reminds me an awful lot of a remora which I find to be some of the coolest fish so I had to have one! Link to comment

Cove
So I put my tank build on hold because I had a contract with Cirque Du Soleil in the Dominican. However since the cast is going to be changing every 6 months to a year I decided to postpone my departure to focus on my hobbies a little bit longer! The tank is back on! Im still struggling to find a IM 30L which freaking sucks.. May go ADA 60F LR/LS + Powerhead only! Link to comment
