Clam hitchhiker

So I bought live rock for my 10 gal nano tank, it was very cloudy the first day and next day to my surprise I found a live clam that came along, I'm feeding it phytoplankton, I was wondering if it would survive the cycle but my ammonia levels never went up so I think I got some good bacteria too, any tips to keep this thing alive?

Not all clams are photosynthetic. Most filter feed so small filter feeding foods are good for them. Ideally your tank will be able to provide most of the organic stuff they eat.

Try stirring up detritus every so often for your corals and your filter feeders

Not a fancy one, it looks like a oyster opens a few milimiters when the lights are on; i am target feeding phytoplankton to my corals and the clam

it's most likely some kind of non-photosynthetic filter feeding bivalve, a picture would really help.. hitchhiker tridacna clams are rare but it wouldn't be the first time.

If it's just a regular plain looking clam you dont have to do any thing to keep it alive. Ive had some for years and do nothing specific for them. They have even survived several tank crashes.
