I can't :( All I can get is the tap water which makes me sad, but I like my hermit crabs.

I was thinking about getting a Pom Pom crab, but IDK. My friends in my dorm like the "moving things" so the hermit crabs were quite fun for them. I might try and get a shrimp and other inverts... suggestions are welcome.

I have a tough time getting RO water (my LFS sells it but its an hour long bus ride away #poor student life) just go to your nearest grocery store, and in the pop isle there will be 1 gallon jugs of distilled water, they are like 1.50 at the grocery store nearest me. Its well worth it, especially with such a small tank you won't need much.

Also for the movement, the best purchase I ever made was a single head of torch coral. The swaying motion in the current is mesmerizing, and it will stay small enough for your tank for a long time, and if it does get too big you can frag it (after like, a few years) but deff the centre piece of my little 16 Tall is that torch, I'm quite proud of it because my first two that I had in my old tank died for no reason (I suspect chemical warfare from my toadstool)

I like the idea of using RODI from the store. I might use that for water changes only, though, to save on money. I don't want to starve out the algae anymore because I have the hermits.

For movement, the GSP that Steve gave to me for free it huge! it opened up the night I got it and hasn't closed since. Everything looks great. I did a bit of rescaping: I put all zoas on the rock and everything else on the ground. I might make an acan garden and a mushroom garden as well. The mushroom looks great and I am so happy I got one for such a great price. The acans look better each day and right now are great!. The Pink zippers are opened and happy along with the new sunny d's.

Some more pictures!!!

Here is the whole tank. I had to mess with the settings to get a decent picture so this is touched up and still a crap photo. The tank looks better than this:

You can see how well the scans are opening up here, and that little rascal didn't hurt the acan:

Quick update on the tank:

Everything is going fine. Nothing bad has happened and I haven't had to do much for the tank. I got 4 more frags, and they will probably be my las additions: utter chaos, dart mauls, rastas, and fruit loops. The first two have opened up and look great while the second two haven't yet, but they look alright still.

Here's the utter chaos. I put it dead center in the tank to show it off :)

Rastas open up now, but I can't get a good picture of them. The fruit loops never opened and just died, theres nothing there now, which definitely sucks.

My bam bams and hairy mushroom haven't looked happy for a couple of days. I don't know what the problem is, but one day they were looking great, the next they are sad. They aren't completely closed, just the mushroom is deflated, and the bams only partially open. We'll see what happens.

Quick update:

Everything made it over the week I wasn't here (Spring Break) which is nice. Most things are growing well: The Sunny D's, Blue hornets, pink zippers, and y utter chaos all have new polyps. The bad news is the fruit loops died after never opening, and the darth maul died after opening for a couple of days and then closing and melting. Also, the Bam Bams are still closed up from before break.

Last bit of news is I got two sexy shrimp. One nibbles on my Magicians every couple of days, but it seems that if I keep them fed on mysid shrimp they stay of the zoas. They are still acclimatizing and are still a tad timid, but they come out and walk around sometimes. Overall, the tank is good! Pictures later!

I think that my orange mushroom is splitting! Also, my utter chaos has a baby and another one on the way already. My pink zippers have added another little guy. My shrimp pick on my zoas every now and then, but I chase them away and I think they are learning to stay off of them. I feed them mysid ever other day. Also, one of them went crazy and killed and ate one of the bigger pod things. It was pretty awesome. One of the shrimp has a substantially larger backside than the other so I'm going to look around and see what that means. Here are the pictures I promised:

Here is the splitting shroom:

This is my pretty pretty acan feeding on the mysid:

That mushroom is awesome and the gsp looks nice(i would isolate it though). I would get RO/DI from the grocery store. The price is nothing when you consider what it does for your tank in the long run. Plus it's only two gallons, seriously.... Two gallons...

Quick update. The darth maul and fruit loops were replaced by the seller with 3 (and a baby) polyps of BBEB and one polyp of pink hippo zoa. They are pretty sweet and that was very nice of him to do. The mushroom completely split and I now have two awesome shrooms. The utter chaos and sunny d's are still growing like mad, but they are being outpaced by the GSP.

On a sadder note, I had to get rid of the female sexy shrimp because she was biting the corals too much. But I did keep the female because he seems to be fine. But hopefully this was the right move and now my rastas, pink zippers, blue hornets, and Magicians will open up. We'll see...

Here are some pictures of those of you who won't read this post otherwise:

Final Update:

The school year is over and the tank has come down. I forgot to take a final picture, but it didn't change much from the picture above. Everything is now in my 29 gallon at home. Overall, the tank was a success, but looking back here are a few changes I would retrospectively make:

- no shrimp

- black sand

- more dynamic rockscape (I'm thinking it would have looked better with less rock, overall)
