rmulet Posted April 30, 2005 Do they use real coral for their tanks? Just curious cause there was a program on TV last night about an aquarium in Italy (I think) that uses fake coral. They would scrub the algae off periodically to maintain it. Quote Link to comment
sir winston mulligan Posted April 30, 2005 the shark reef at mandalay bay in vegas uses fake coral, it was such a big let down...they did have yellow tangs the size of your head tho.... Quote Link to comment
B16A2NR Posted April 30, 2005 No this is 100% real coral and massive hundred and thousand pound pieces of live rock. They are half public aquarium, half coral propagation. They take broken shards of corals from the ocean floor and grow them into healthy colonies where they reintroduce them into the wild. The tank is lit by tons of 1000 watt halides. In that tank they have 5 foot wide capricornus, and giant sps colonies. Quote Link to comment

Darkstarreefer Posted May 2, 2005 Well it depends what they are going for...they may house parrots or angels or other coral-eating creatures. Quote Link to comment
