It's a Orange Sea Star, it will only grow up to 3" so it won't get too big.

are they hard to care for and reef safe?

I've had this one for 4 months and so far it's taken care of itself! Sometimes I place a bit of dried seaweed under it if its on the glass, but thats about it! Its about as reef safe as you can get with a starfish.
