20gallon Sump
I built my sump about as big as my show tank. After two weeks of manually toping off I added the Tunze osmolator universal 3155 with a 7 gallon reserve tank.
Probably the most noticeable difference in filtration was adding the Chaeto. Even with weekly 10% water changes my nitrates had been climbing, but the Chaeto knocked them down to Zero within a week. It grows like a weed down in the sump.
I run my pump to flow 150gal per hour so that I can get good utilization of the Coralife 18V UV Sterilizer. My complete system turnover rate is around 3 to 4 times per hour. I have the excess flow running back into the refugium area.
The only things I would change: I'd have continued to lower the baffles through each progression because I get a scum layer that builds up in the refugium section. I'd also like to move the heater out of the refugium and into the skimmer section so I don't have to worry about the Chaeto ever sitting against it.
