M&C Posted May 12, 2012 Bummer on all those aiptasia, but man, how long have you been growing that monti cap? And the acro colony at the top? Those are really impressive Quote Link to comment
nor_cal_nano Posted May 12, 2012 Thanks. Been growing all those corals since February of last year. Quote Link to comment
nor_cal_nano Posted May 12, 2012 You can see the progress of the colonies here, from the beginning to present. http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=264771&hl= Quote Link to comment
Formula462 Posted May 12, 2012 I swear to god if you can get your hands on healthy, gulf-caught Peppermint Shrimp , they decimate aptasia. Today when I go in, I will throw a rock with aptasia on it in the peppermint bay, and take a video of the carnage. Aptasia is getting worse every year it seems. I have some popping up in the back of my biocube and I am going to add one as well. I got a lemon with the last one. I should have bought a few, seems to work better like that. Quote Link to comment
basser1 Posted May 12, 2012 Berghia nudibranchs will only eat aiptasia. I'd get a couple of those and they will gobble them up. I've tried pepp shrimps before, but once they get a taste of frozen shrimp.... fugettaboutit! Quote Link to comment
nor_cal_nano Posted May 12, 2012 I think ill look into the nudi. Thanks for the tip. The last peppermint was gone the day after being introduced. Hawkfish probably made a snack of him... Quote Link to comment
chucktdbm321 Posted May 15, 2012 Stunning growth! After seeing the sps colony on the top I had to see the growth rate you were getting. It's really nice to see a tank with actually colonies not little frags everywhere Quote Link to comment
Scotty Speed Posted August 27, 2012 I've had great success with Peppermint Shrimp. Carnage is definately the right word to use! Quote Link to comment
fretfreak13 Posted September 12, 2012 Aw, I love your hawk! And the feeder tenticles on the brain are amazing! Quote Link to comment
