Had this bad looking brown algae appear on my sand everywhere from one day to the other. My nitrates and phosphates are at zero. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I find these Cyanobacteria blooms come and go. Feeding your fish flake or other foods can raise your phosphates by point four very quickly and then drop back to zero. Point four is loads and can be fuel for these blooms, but ultimately your tank can read zero at all other times. Reduced feeding, macro algae and plenty of sand sifting life forms should take care of your problem. But I'm only speaking from experience, as I'm sure you know, what's true for one tank might not be true for all.

Thanks for the response. Yes i think its probably a good idea to get something that sifts through the sand pretty good i was thinking about a sandsifting goby or something in that area. Or maybe i just wait it out and see what happens, lets hope it stops producing at some point lol.

Definately get a CUC that can aerate your sand. Sandsifting stars are great, same with ceriths and super tongan nassarius snails. And that looks more like diatoms than cyano...cyano is red....

Be careful of gobies. Get one that will survive but not so aggressive that it rearranges your entire tank! Been there, done that. Stars and nassarius snails are good but nothing beats a sifter goby.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to stick with snails, a starfish and very frequent water changes until my sand is white again.
