This live rock was taken from Buye, Puerto Rico by my father, it was taken from my beautiful little island which I miss everyday. This little piece of rock not only represent the beauty that we have but represent my home, I'll be close to my home because this little pieces of rock that I put together one day and decided to call it My Reef Tank, this piece of rock is my native country and I'm proud of that. God Bless you Puerto Rico!!!

Hahaha yeah, my parents, my dad has reef tanks since he was a teenager. He love the ocean as much as I do. He knows that I miss my blue water and all the access to see coral reefs for free and 3 minutes away from home. I grew up in front of the beach with my older brother. So my parents try to send me stuff from there so I can keep my mental sanity in check hahaha dude I hate Maryland, water over here looks like s..t plus we are very good friends of the 3 biggest saltwater supplier from PR. One of the guys is American by the way.cool guy, is making fortune with his license to get coral from PR. I can get coral for free all day long. Sun corals are ilegal to take now but you can still get some real good pieces of them because thay are everywhere. Also ricordeas are ilegal to take from PR but not from Haiti which is like 1 hour away from us, its funny. We do some Aquaculture too but mostly everything exported to USA its taken from the sea in limited quantities though.

That's practically like having a beautiful piece of coral in itself! Really great!

nice coralline variety bro! there's even some black on here. do you get neon orange coralline on this stuff too? i think i saw some on the live rock in my 10 gal nano, but i was unsure that it was coralline though :)

well yeah, the rocks came with a little bit of orange coralline but all this coralline die on shipping, the rocks were completely white, all this different coralline colors grew in my tank even the orange coralline but that was just on a few rocks though, i think the orange is kind of hard to grow, they seems to grow in dark places like under the rocks, mines love the 420nm gamma. Theres a yellow feather duster on that rock too, you can see half of it in the picture :), he survived all the dry transportation(priority)and even survived the cycle. I still have that bast@rd alive hahahaha but the rock its more beatifull now because its completely full of coralline. this photo was taken last year in my 40g breeder which is a freshwater planted tank now.

I went to Aruba earlier in the year. I was very disgusted to see the reefs were rocks covered in algae and plastic cups. Everything down there seemed to be dead or dying.

It should be really sad. Hopefully PR will stay like it is. Last time I went most of the brain corals were gone and I didn't see a lot of recordeas as it used to be. Our new addition are the lion fishes. That's really f...... And people are killing them for food because a chef decide to includes them on his rest. Menu. I found one last time I went snorkeling in the area, I almost s.... my pants lol there was so manies I was afraid of getting shocked by their spikes.

Nice rock, I am also from PR (Vega Baja city) and when I was starting my reef I did went to the beach and took like 2 medium size rocks that where exacly like that one you have. They where full of small mantis shrimps and at night my tank sounded like a firecracker!

Pakirri- hehehe yeah i know the feeling. I get rocks from buye or La parguera, you really need to clean those rocks but hey its better than $10per pound LoL. you can get sun coral at crashboard beach under the bridge where people are usually fishing.
