Not ratchet, but similar...long story.

I was supposed to swap this tank from my old one on Nov. 18th 2010,

one day before more foot surgeries for me.

Then I find out after waiting all darn day for it that UPS broke it in transit

to my house, so I frantically drove to a store and bought this one.

I had planned to use a simple 10/15 gal for the sump, but they wouldn't fit under the stand, off by about an inch and a half.

SO, I went by this plexi shop near by to see if they had anything I could use

and they had this box that was made with the wrong dimensions and I got a $200 box for $40!!!...

which also didn't quite fit, so they had to cut off a couple inches off one side and glue another one.

I couldn't wait a week for the glue to dry, so I strapped it just to set the tank up.

And since then, haven't taken them off, no need to.

They add to the strength of the box.

Yes, a few, about eight, just free floating in the sump.

I've had them for a while and keep cleanin' em and reusing them.

I actually wanna get a couple dozen more floating it there.

The Bak Pak skimmer has "bio bail", that blue stuff.

This was the biological filter from the tank I had previously

before the 29gal switch, so those bacteria were vital to the new cube.

Since then with some live rock and all live sand, this tank is crystal clear.

The balls I do not clean, but the bail I rinse lightly in saltwater,

about every month or so.

If I had to do it from the start, it might be a little different,

but since I switched tanks, I need the bail, but with proper maintenance

it works great.
