As for the dog. Yea holding them like that is not good for the dog. I know their mom sometimes do that to pick them up as puppies but they also have extra skin and fat there for that reason. As they grow they loose that. Picking them up like that hurts espically considering their weight. How would you like it if i was to lift you up by the skin on your neck.... or give you a hanging wedgie for that matter.
