intheb0x Posted May 29, 2009 holy cow, how hard is it to keep this tank up? how often do you change water and what do you dose with?? i always heard it was hard to keep such small tanks with perfect water. Quote Link to comment
el fabuloso Posted May 29, 2009 Thanks for all the comments. This tank has been surprisingly easy to maintain. Stability is key which requires weekly water changes and a good ATO. I had it running for a full year before doing the SPS conversion so it's a pretty mature tank. I just recently started a dosing regimen of C-Balance two part solution to keep calcium and alk levels in check which gets depleted fairly quickly in a tank this size. Quote Link to comment
Bonsai Posted May 29, 2009 fab' You should post a full resolution shot of this bad boy ... give me some megapixels of Pico sexyness. Quote Link to comment
g8gxp Posted May 29, 2009 Awesome!! I am copying this in my office!! How much water do you change on a daily basis? also what type of filtration is it running? media filter only? or plus carbon, etc. Just trying to get a feel for maintenance. Coming from a 120g i'm pretty nervous with such a small tank. Thanks Quote Link to comment
ihatesears18 Posted May 29, 2009 Wow, awesome picture. That's some good husbandry right there.... Quote Link to comment
smarsh Posted May 29, 2009 TOTM!!!!!!!!!! The SPS color and growth are insane! Considering that there is more rock and coral then water in there. Maybe 2 gallons of water including the filter. Awesome tank! Quote Link to comment

n0rk Posted May 31, 2009 Man, that Monti has grown like crazy since the changeover to LED! Quote Link to comment
el fabuloso Posted May 31, 2009 The monti has definitely grown a whole lot ever since the switch to LED. As for fish, I used to have a green clown goby but it jumped. Then I had a yellowtail damsel and it too jumped but I think the emerald crab may have spooked it. I'm fishless at the moment but I do plan on adding another fish, I'm just not sure what I should go with this time. wouldn't a frogfish be a little too big for a pico? Or is there some micro frogfish I don't know about? Quote Link to comment
