New custom tank 3

I just sent my plans for this new tank of mine to CADlights. They say it will take about 3 weeks because of back log but thats fine with me.

 

 

specs

USE 3/8" low Iron/Starfire glass

USE 1/4" acrylic for overflow

Overflow is 1/4" below rim of tank

(prevents overflow if grates blocked

 

 

1.1 Bulkhead = 3/4' Return with 1 1/2' hole

3" in from sides of tank

1-1/2" down from top of tank

 

 

1.2 Bulkhead=3/4" closed loop with 1-1/2" hole

11-3/4" in from side

7-3/4" down from top

 

 

2.1 Bulkhead=1" closed loop feed with 1-3/4' hole

2' in from side

4" from bottom

 

 

3.1 Bulkhead=1-1/2" main drain with 2-3/8" hole

2' from side

2-1/2" out from back wall

2.1 might be a bad choice since you will now need the overflow teeth alot longer to handle the increased water flow and you will also risk sucking air into the pump even with a very high durso.....I drilled the same on my tank I have now but then before I drilled the CL pickup I changed to 2 Bulkheads one on each side of the overflow about 3" from the bottom so it can move water from behind the LR aswell

really, i still need to talk final design with them and i think your right about the overflow so i can get more water to the CL . I will move the 2.1 down to about 3".
