Cycle Over?

Started on 1/18, only LR and dry base rock, and Amm/Nit levels at 0 already? Does fully cured LR really cycle that quick? LFS gave me green light after testing my water, I bought small CUC: 6 snails;6 hermits. New 36'' T5HO fixture comes this week, and with it some more algae and a bigger CUC.

Possibly soft cycled, but adding the CUC will help the cycle. There is a slim chance that you might lose a member or two of your CUC if your tank decides to cycle again after the CUC starts to create ammonia.

it often happens like that, it did with me. i added a few cuc and then some more. waited about 3 weeks before adding a few fish. probably could have got away with earlier but rushing only causes trouble. expext slime algae but that will disipitate in a few weeks. that looks like a rather large sand bed. might want to thin that out a fair bit. might build sulphate (i think), anyways thick beds are generally a no no

I am going to hold off on any fish/corals until all the rock develops bacteria. So I am looking at around 2-3 months from now and by then the tank should be stable. The sand bed is about 3'', is that too deep? I thought ideal DSB was like 3" or 4"? or are DSBs not a great idea for 30g?

Can't wait for the lights, going w/ T5: 2x36" and 2x24 from fishneedit. Unfortunately the tank shape won't fit a 4x36" fixture, so I have to go w/ a 2 fixture setup for now, which is still cheaper than retros.
