Persepolis Posted January 21, 2007 are you keeping any air plants in there besides the bromelaids? Quote Link to comment
Helfrichs Chick Posted January 21, 2007 Yea I have little air plants, but they never do good, I think this tank runs too humid, and not enought air flow. I am going to have to change the top soon, to help with more air flow. I also have a fogger on the tank that looks SWEET when it kicks on. Trade mosses? What you takling bout willis? Oregon Posted May 8, 2007 We should have more dendro tanks on NR. I started one a few years back but never stocked it. Whats the wattage on your lighting? I'm assuming its 6700k. I'm afraid that my wattage crazy reefer ways might fry the froggies? Quote Link to comment
Helfrichs Chick Posted May 12, 2007 lol no its a ABS custom sea life PC hood.... its a daylight and an actinic. Works well and the plants grow out of control. The bulbs havent been replaced in years, but they work fine and not like im gonna get an algae bloom lol. Quote Link to comment
Diskusting Posted May 15, 2007 wow that is amazing I wanter to start a tank like this but I dont want the smell. Quote Link to comment
Helfrichs Chick Posted May 16, 2007 lol it doesnt smell at all. If you stick your head in it it smells GOOD, like the forest after a rainfall. If the vivarium smells thats NOT good, means rot and decay that can lead to all kinds of problems like respitory infection and such. I actually like the smell of the tank. Very fresh IMO. But then again I like the smell of gasoline, and horse poo. Soooooo I may be a bit off! LMAO Quote Link to comment
Oregon Posted May 17, 2007 What breed of dendros do you have in there. How do you control condensation on the glass. Really like the "valley" look you've achieved. Quote Link to comment
Helfrichs Chick Posted May 17, 2007 I have Luecs, citronella tincs, and a rescued (now fat and huge) mint auratus. Quote Link to comment
Helfrichs Chick Posted May 17, 2007 Oh and as for the condensation, it does have some after I mist, and once ina while, but its very dry here and I alwats wipe the tank down before pics lol. Oh and ricomike... my male luec IS VERY LOUD!! I hear him calling all friggin day starting at like 8 when the lights come in through the windows... before the tank lights even come on. I will video him tomorrow and put it on you tube for ya. Its hilarious.... he is king of the tank, gets up on the tall leaves and calls. Its not annoying at all (well kinda cause its all day) but sounds like a cricket. Pretty cool imo. Oh and if I play a recording of another luec calling he freaks out and charges all over the tank calling. Very cool personality. His name is Don Julio. Quote Link to comment
10" Red Devil Posted July 27, 2007 What do you feed your frogs? I tried to keep them before, but the crickets were to expensive for my budget at the time ($40 every 2 weeks) in addition to maintaining a freshwater planted tank (many exotic fresh fish, zerbra pleco, chocolate gouramie, apisto cocatoides, etc). I kept them for a year. I miss them so much. I'm going to Panama in a month, hope to see some in the wild! Quote Link to comment
Helfrichs Chick Posted July 27, 2007 Well I did sell the tank but I was spending the same in fruit flies. You can culture your own for cheap but I didnt want to mess with it. Would be awesome to see any dendro in the wild!!! Quote Link to comment
