Mushroom/Sponge rock

This is a strange branching rock that I picked up from a LFS about 7 months ago. The mushrooms were much larger about 3 months ago, but as of know the sponges seem to have overtaken the rock. The mushrooms have either shrank in size or are somehow being attacked by the sponges...?

Sponges are: white, brown, flourescent green, flourescent blue, dark purple, and yellow.
