how old is your tank. Where did you get those mushrooms, how much? Did they grow fast?

my tank has just reached one year. i do most of my coral shopping at either Mark's Tropical Fish in Studio City or Aquatic Outlet in Inglewood/LAX. At both places I expect to pay about $29-39 for rocks with 7-9 quarter sized mushrooms. Both places have good sales tho. The shrooms were taken off their orig. rocks and placed on the one leftside rock. the are usually in shock for about a month and then start to grow again. i think the secret is placing them close together so they compete for light. the blues were originally 7 shrooms

I have this same tank, do you run a skimmer on it? What kind of water changes do you do?

no skimmer.....my coral need all the nutrients they can get. if i had a skimmer my sun coral would have starved months ago. i just use a small $15 filter. I change the water once a week (if i remember) using real sea-water from a local pet store.

hey I have been to Mark's, nice but expensive. Have you been to the Aquarium Center on Ventura? Excellent selection and MUCH better prices.

Yes i go to both when i am out there....Mark's carries things I have seen nowhere else...like neon ricordia and they always have bright blue shrooms and nice xenia, but yeah you do pay high prices. If you get on their mailing list you get better deals.... :o)
