This is my roomates Aquarium...It will be a real benifit to have once my tank is ready for coral.;)There is 235lbs. Marshal LR. Fish: 2 Blue Tangs, 1 Chevron Tang, 1 Purple Tang, 3 Maroon Clown Fish, 4 Bimaculis Anthius, 3 Fuzzy Dwarf Lions, 1 striped Mandarin, 1 Spotted Mandarin, 1 One Spot Foxface (in farm tank). Tank is connected "plummed" to a 55 Gal. coral farm, which I took a pic of in a recent thread. Tank is Custom built 60x30x37 Acrylic 1/2 cylinder by Midwest Custom Aquariums. Canopy is 12" tall with flush mount swing doors. Stand contains a built in acrylic sump 50x15x12 ~38 gallons. Lighting consists of 3 400 watt XM 10k SE bulbs run of PFO HQI Ballasts. Flow is achieved with 2 Tunze 6100 Streams run off the 7095 Multi-controller. Sump return is a Dolphin Ampmaster 3000 t-offed with an automated electric ball valve switching current from left side to ride side jet returns. Skimming is an Aqua-C EV-240 run off a Gen-X Mak4 pump. Precision Marin Calcium reactor keeps up the KH and calcium at 12-13 and ~450 ppm. Everything is controlled by a Neptune AquaController II switching fans on and off when needed.

I love those but hate them at the same time. Just looking at it in the pic almost gives me a headache. Those things have crazy distortion.

What do you guys mean distortion?? I understand the term. Is it the pic quality or the coral placement?

Hmmm. Guess I never noticed the distortion. When I look at it from the side, I see about 6" of distortion from the curve. Actually, my roomate isn't happy with this tank style...too hard to move things around, and almost impossible to have a quality wavemaker. Guess he'll have to make best of it ;).

The distortion is not so much in person with a tank like this.... but all I can think about is how DEEP this is. That makes keep up very hard in reef. My 15 gal is 18" deep and I can't imagine keeping a red more than 24" deep. Waht a PITA. I don't see a whole lot of reef tanks morethan 24" deep go for too long, a few but few.

(don't understand why there's no reply button)...oh well. Yeah, it's quite funny seeing him move anything around near the bottom of the tank...he takes the canopy off, then literally climbs on top of his tank. He said if he didn't worry about the chemicals in his hair polluting the water, he would buy googles and a snorkle, and go to work!!

Electric bill? I have a set rate, $25. I would say just his two aquariums runs about $80 per month.
