3twenty5
Well I just added some blue legs, and some astrea snails from my LFS the other day....tonight I shined a flashlight in the tank and found this right in front. I think it may be one of the hermits I picked up the other day(maybe he slipped another species hermit in by accident)...but I cannot find an empty shell...anyone know what this is...is it a crab out of its shell? sjpresley
Pic isn't very good because you can't see the head or really any detail. But it gives the impression of a "mole crab", which are intertidal filter feeders. Unfortunately, they starve in reef tanks because they require wave action to use they filter feeding apparati. 3twenty5
I think maybe it ended up being one of the hermits I put in the tank the other day. When I got my crabs from the LFS...I saw one which was not a blue legged...and thought maybe this one him...grew out of his shell...and died since there were no larger shells Link to comment
Bucket o Chum
Its definetly not a mole crab which I don't think are even true crabs. It might be a mud crab or box crab which I don't think are reef-safe as adults. How big is it? Link to comment
