Hermit crab behavior

Hi I have a nice little hermit crab and he's been sitting in my tank in the same spot for like 4 days. He's still alive. I've seen him move his legs. I dont think he's eating either. I think he might be getting too big for his shell so I put some other shells in the tank but he isnt doing anything. He just sits there. What do you think hes doing? I'm worried he's gonna die : (

did he molt? if he did youll see his molt sitting around which will look just like him.

no he didnt molt. he just sits there in his shell all day and all night. Its kinda weird. I used to see him walking around all the time and now he just sits still.

Have a Friend that had a hermit that was doing the same, very active at first and then stop in one spot, stay there for a week and finally he found the crab out of the shell dead. he did not know what went wrong but in the pet store said that he have probably starved to dead, but dont know the reason. I hope this will not happen to you but will search some specialist in the area to hear what he thinks.

what are the parameters?

It might behave like that if the amonia level is high

Well he actually started moving around but later he died. He wasnt eating. He probably starved or something. I'm a little sad. I named him and everything. : )

Sorry to hear about that, how long had you had him?

From wat I've read they don't live all that long...?

I only had him for probably 2 and a half weeks. Everything else in my tank is fine but he just stopped moving and then finally died. I dunno. No more hermit crabs for me.
